Change the email address you sign in with (your EverWeb account email)

Your EverWeb account email is the address you sign in with, both in your EverWeb account page (the Client Area) and inside the EverWeb app. To change it, go to Hello, your name! > Edit Account Details in the Client Area, then sign in to EverWeb again with the new address. Your password stays the same.

Is this the email you want to change?

This article is about the email on your EverWeb account. It's where we send your invoices, renewal reminders, password reset links and sign-in codes. There are other email addresses that it doesn't change:

Changing one of these never changes the others.

Change it in the Client Area

Before you start, make sure you can receive mail at the new address. Sign-in codes go there from now on, and we don't send a confirmation message to the new address first, so a typing mistake could lock you out.

  1. Sign in to the Client Area with your current email address and password.
  2. Click Hello, your name! at the top of the page and choose Edit Account Details.
  3. In Email Address, type the new address carefully.
  4. Click Save Changes. You'll see "Changes Saved Successfully!"
  5. Sign out, then sign in again with the new address and your usual password to check it works.

If the page says a user already exists with that email address, that address already has its own EverWeb account. Don't create a second one. Contact us with both addresses and we'll help.

Sign in to EverWeb with the new address

EverWeb remembers your old address, so it can't publish to EverWeb + Hosting or check your license until you sign in again.

  1. Mac: choose EverWeb > Settings > Account. Windows: choose Edit > Options > Account.
  2. Click Sign Out.
  3. Type your new address in Email, and your usual password in Password.
  4. Click Sign In.
  5. Do the same on each computer you use EverWeb on.

If you see "Could not connect to your account.", check the address for typing mistakes and type the password by hand.

What changes, and what stays the same

  • Your password stays the same. To change it too, choose Hello, your name! > Change Password.
  • Two-factor and "Verify It's You" codes are sent to the new address from now on.
  • Invoices, renewal reminders and password reset emails go to the new address.
  • Your license, hosting plan, domains and add-ons stay on the same account. You don't need to buy or register anything again.
  • Domain contact details for domains registered with us keep the old address. To change them too, go to Domains > My Domains, then Manage Domain and Edit Contact Information. Changing the owner's email address can send you a verification email: click the link in it, or the domain can be suspended. See My website was suspended by ICANN. What do I do?.

Lost access to your old address?

If you can still sign in, change the address as above. If you can't sign in, and the password reset email goes to an address you can no longer open, contact us. Once we've confirmed the account is yours, we can change it for you. See I can't log in to my EverWeb account.
