Read your domain email in Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail (instead of forwarding)

You can read mail for your own address, such as [email protected], in the same app you already use for Gmail, Outlook or iCloud. Create an email account for the address, then add it to your mail app. You need EverWeb + Hosting, with your domain's email at EverWeb.

Why not forward it to Gmail?

An email forwarder passes every message on to another address, spam included. Gmail, Outlook and other providers count that spam against our mail servers. When enough of it arrives, they start blocking mail from our servers. Your forwarded mail goes missing, and so can other mail sent from our servers. For that reason we don't recommend forwarders. An email account in your mail app avoids the problem and also lets you reply from your own address.

Before you start

In the Gmail app on a phone or tablet

  1. Open the Gmail app and tap your profile picture at the top right.
  2. Tap Add another account, then Other (IMAP). On Android, tap Other, then Personal (IMAP).
  3. Enter your full email address and tap Next.
  4. Enter your email password.
  5. For the incoming server, enter mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, security SSL/TLS, with your full email address as the username.
  6. For the outgoing server, enter mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, security SSL/TLS, with the same username and password.
  7. Follow the remaining steps. Your mail appears under the new address, and you can switch between your accounts from your profile picture.

When you reply in this account, the reply comes from your own address.

In the Mail app on an iPhone or iPad

Follow How to set up your EverWeb email on an iPhone or iPad.

On a computer

  • Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird and other apps: add a new account, choose IMAP if asked, and use the settings in Email settings for Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail and other apps (IMAP, POP, SMTP).
  • In a web browser: go to yourdomain.com/webmail and sign in with your full email address and email password. See How can I check my email online?
  • Gmail in a web browser: Google is removing Check mail from other accounts and Send mail as for addresses outside Google. New set-ups have stopped, and existing ones stop working in January 2027. Use the Gmail app or one of the options above instead.

Already using a forwarder?

Switch to an email account without losing mail:

  1. Create an email account with the same address, and add it to your mail app as above.
  2. Send a test message from another address and check it arrives in the app.
  3. Sign in to the Client Area, go to Services > My Services, click your hosting plan, then Email Forwarders.
  4. Click Delete next to the forwarder, then Confirm.

Keep the mailbox tidy

An email account keeps your mail on our servers, so it uses your plan's storage. A new address holds 250MB. Delete old mail and empty the Trash now and then. To raise the limit, see How can I add more file space to my email accounts?
