Forward email from your domain to Gmail, Outlook or another address

An email forwarder passes every message sent to an address at your domain, such as [email protected], on to an address you already read, such as Gmail, Outlook or iCloud. You make one in a few minutes in your EverWeb account page (the Client Area). You need EverWeb + Hosting, with your domain's email at EverWeb.

Choose a forwarder if you only want to receive mail at your domain. To reply from that address too, you need an email account (see "Reply as your own address" below).

Before you start

Create a forwarder

  1. Sign in to the Client Area.
  2. Go to Services > My Services and click your hosting plan.
  3. Under Manage Account, click Email Forwarders.
  4. Click Create Forwarder.
  5. In Email, type the part before the @, such as info. In Domain, choose your domain.
  6. Leave Option set to Forward to email address, and type the full address to send to in Destination, such as [email protected].
  7. Click Create. You'll see "The email forwarder has been created successfully".
  8. Test it from a different account, such as a work or family address. Gmail often hides a message you sent to yourself, so a test from the same Gmail account can look as if it failed.

To send to two people, create a second forwarder for the same address.

To stop forwarding, click Delete next to the forwarder, then Confirm.

Keep a copy in a mailbox as well

If the address is already an email account, a forwarder for it keeps delivering mail to the mailbox and sends a copy on. The mailbox still fills up, so delete old mail now and then. See My email stopped working, or people say my mailbox is full, but I still have space.

Forward a whole domain

Create Domain Forwarder, on the same page, sends all mail for one domain to the same names at another domain: mail to [email protected] arrives at [email protected]. Choose the domain in Domain To Forward, enter the domain to send it to, and click Create. It can't send every address to one Gmail address: for that, create a forwarder for each address.

Reply as your own address

A forwarder can't send, so replies from Gmail come from your Gmail address. To reply as [email protected]:

  1. Create an email account for that address. See Create an email address with your own domain (EverWeb + Hosting).
  2. In Gmail on a computer, go to Settings > See all settings > Accounts and Import, and next to Send mail as click Add another email address.
  3. When Gmail asks for the outgoing (SMTP) server, use the settings in Email settings for Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail and other apps (IMAP, POP, SMTP): server mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, SSL, your full email address as the username, and that address's email password.
  4. Gmail sends a confirmation code to your address. Enter it in Gmail.

Outlook.com and other services have similar settings in their own help pages.

Forwarded mail in your spam folder

Gmail and other providers check forwarded mail closely, so some of it can land in Spam.

To cut down the spam itself, see I'm receiving a lot of spam emails to my account. How can I stop this?

If it doesn't work

  • "The destination email address is not valid": check the address in Destination for typing mistakes.
  • Nothing arrives: check your nameservers, and the Spam folder of the address you forward to.
  • Still stuck? Contact us with both addresses.
