You can upgrade your EverWeb Standalone license to an EverWeb + Hosting plan from your EverWeb account page (the Client Area). You pay the difference in price, and the amount shows before you pay. Your website then lives on our servers, and you publish from inside EverWeb with no FTP details.
Before you start
- Have your domain name (your website's address, such as yourbusiness.com). It can be registered with us or another company.
- Have email at your domain with another company? Your messages don't move by themselves. Follow Move your website and email to EverWeb Hosting without downtime instead, which includes this upgrade as its first step.
- Not sure which plan? See How much does EverWeb cost, and what's included?
Upgrade your license
- Sign in to your Client Area.
- Go to Services > My Services and click your EverWeb Standalone license.
- Click Upgrade. It may say Upgrade/Downgrade.
- Choose the EverWeb + Hosting plan you want. The price difference shows before you pay.
- Complete the payment.
Publish to your new hosting
- Quit EverWeb and open it again. Or go to EverWeb > Settings > Account (Windows: Edit > Options > Account), click Sign Out, and sign in again. This picks up your new plan.
- Open your project and go to File > Edit Publishing Settings.
- Set Publish To to EverWeb.
- Under EverWeb Location, choose your new plan in Accounts and your website in Domains. Leave Subdirectory empty.
- Go to File > Publish Entire Site.
Point your domain to us
Your website shows at your address once your domain points to our servers. Change the nameservers (the setting that tells the internet where your website lives) to the two in your welcome email. See Point your domain to EverWeb Hosting (update nameservers / DNS). It can take up to 48 hours, but usually finishes within 6, depending on your internet provider (ISP).
Until then, visitors still see your old website, so keep your old hosting until everything works.
What changes with EverWeb + Hosting
- New versions of EverWeb and support are included while your plan is active.
- You can use EverWeb on both Mac and Windows.
- Phone support is included.
- You can create email addresses at your domain. See Create an email address with your own domain (EverWeb + Hosting).
