I just signed up and my email has stopped working. What should I do?

When your domain's nameservers (the setting that tells the internet where your website and email live) point to EverWeb Hosting, email for your domain comes to our servers instead of your old email provider. To get it working again, create the same email addresses with us, then set up your mail apps with our settings. Your old messages stay with your old provider.

1. Create your email addresses

Create each address you used before, spelled the same way. For example, if you had [email protected], create [email protected] with us. Until an address exists here, mail sent to it can't be delivered.

See Create an email address with your own domain (EverWeb + Hosting).

2. Set up your mail apps again

Your mail apps still have your old provider's settings and password. Change each account to our settings, or add it again:

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com for incoming and outgoing. If you changed nameservers in the last 24 hours, use your server name instead, from the Client Area.
  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: the email password you set when you created the address with us

For all the settings and the Apple Mail steps, see Email settings for Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail and other apps (IMAP, POP, SMTP). For iPhone and iPad, see How to set up your EverWeb email on an iPhone or iPad.

3. Your old messages

Messages from before the change don't move to us by themselves. They stay with your old provider, or on your computer if your mail app used POP. Before you remove the old account from your mail app, export or back up its mailboxes. See Move your website and email to EverWeb Hosting without downtime.

Check your nameservers

Mail only arrives once your nameservers point to EverWeb Hosting. A change can take up to 48 hours, but usually finishes within 6, depending on your internet provider (ISP). See Point your domain to EverWeb Hosting (update nameservers / DNS).

Want to keep your email with your old provider?

That's possible. Ask your old provider for your domain's MX records (the settings that say where your email goes) and send them to us. We'll update your domain so your email goes back to them, while your website stays with us. If you use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, contact us and we'll help.
