The most reliable way to send visitors to your Facebook, Instagram, X or other social media pages is a linked icon: a small picture that opens your page when clicked. EverWeb has ready-made icons under Insert > Button. There are also widgets that show posts from a Facebook Page, a Pinterest Pin It button and an X follow button. Those depend on the social media companies, which change or retire them without notice, so check them after you publish.
Add social media icons
- Open your Master Page, so the icons appear on every page. A footer is the usual place.
- Choose Insert > Button and pick one: Facebook Page, X Page, Instagram, LinkedIn Profile, Youtube Channel, Pinterest or Email Me.
- Type the full address of your page, such as
https://www.instagram.com/yourname/, and click OK. EverWeb adds the icon, already linked. - To open your page in a new tab, select the icon, go to Inspector > Hyperlinks and set Behavior to Open in New Window.
- Resize the icons and line them up. On a responsive page, put them side by side in a Container set to Row.
For another network, such as TikTok, Threads or Bluesky, use the icon from that network's website. Add it like any picture, then select it, go to Inspector > Hyperlinks, tick Enable as Hyperlink, set Link To to An External Page and type your page's address. To change an address later, select the icon and edit it in the same place.
Social media widgets
Find these in the Widgets tab and set them up in Inspector > Widget Settings.
| Widget | What it shows | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook Page Timeline | Recent posts from a Facebook Page | Your Page's address in Facebook Page Address. Then tick Show Timeline, Show Events, Show Messages, Hide Cover Photo or Use Smaller Header as you like |
| Pinterest Pin It | A Pin It button, so visitors can pin a picture from your page | Nothing. Use one per page |
| Twitter Follow Me (shown as X Follow in its settings) | A follow button for your X account | Your name without the @ in X Handle, and the button wording in Label |
The Facebook Page Timeline has a fixed width. On a responsive page, keep it in a Container at about 280 to 320 pixels wide.
There's no Instagram feed widget. To show your latest Instagram posts, use a feed service that gives you embed code, and paste it into an HTML Snippet widget. See Add a booking calendar, Instagram feed or other outside code with the HTML Snippet widget.
If a widget shows a blank space
- Check it in Preview or on your published website, in a private browser window.
- Facebook Page Timeline: the address must be a Facebook Page, not a personal profile or a Group (an address with
/groups/won't work). The Page must be published and public, with no country or age limits. - Some visitors won't see social widgets. Privacy rules in the European Union, privacy settings and ad blockers can stop them loading. Try another browser to check.
- If it's still blank, the social media company has probably changed or retired that feature. We can't fix that from EverWeb. Use a linked icon instead.
