Select the text or object people will click, go to Inspector > Hyperlinks, tick Enable as Hyperlink, set Link To to A File, and choose your PDF. EverWeb copies the PDF into your project and publishes it with your website, so visitors get it from your website, not from your computer.
Steps
- Select what people will click. For a few words, double-click inside the text box and highlight them. For a button, picture or shape, click it once.
- Go to Inspector > Hyperlinks (the fifth icon).
- Tick Enable as Hyperlink.
- Set Link To to A File.
- Click Choose.... Pick a file that's already in your project, or choose Choose... in the list to pick a new file from your computer.
- Optional: to have the PDF download instead of opening in the browser, tick Force download under Additional Settings. Some browsers ignore this and open the file anyway.
- Preview to test the link, then publish.
Update the PDF later
To put a new version online without changing any links, replace it in the Assets list:
- Open the Assets tab and find the PDF under External Files.
- Right-click (or Control-click) it and choose Replace Asset.... This is in the Assets tab, not in the Hyperlinks file list.
- Choose the new version, then publish.
Large PDFs use your hosting storage and bandwidth, so keep them as small as you can.
For every kind of link, see How to link to another page, a website, an email address, a phone number, a PDF, or a section of a page.
