Your EverWeb license is yours, and it never expires. The renewal notice is about the optional Updates & Support plan, which gives you new versions and help from our support team. The plan never renews by itself, so if you do nothing, you aren't charged and you can keep using EverWeb. There is nothing to cancel.
This article is for EverWeb Standalone (the software on its own). If you have EverWeb + Hosting, see "Add-ons, domains and hosting do renew" below.
What you bought, and what the plan adds
| Your EverWeb license | Updates & Support plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | $89.95 USD, once. Your first year of the plan is included. | $59.95 USD a year after the first year. Optional. |
| How long it lasts | It never expires. | One year at a time. |
| What you get | EverWeb, and any version released while your plan was active. | New versions of EverWeb, and email support. |
The rule is short: Your license never expires. You can keep using any version released while your plan was active. A newer version won't publish until you renew.
Phone calls aren't part of the plan. They come with EverWeb + Hosting or the Priority Phone Support add-on.
What happens if you don't renew
- You keep EverWeb. Your project file (the editable copy of your website, saved on your computer) stays as it is.
- You keep publishing with any version released while your plan was active.
- Your website stays online. It is on your hosting company's server, and the plan doesn't affect it.
- You don't get new versions. If you install a version newer than your plan covers, it won't publish. See EverWeb won't let me publish and says my plan has expired.
- Support is normally for active plans. Our help articles and video tutorials stay free for everyone.
- An older version can eventually stop running. This can happen after a macOS update or on a new computer, because older versions don't get updated for new systems. See EverWeb won't let me publish and says my plan has expired.
You don't have to install anything before your plan ends. You can download any covered version later from your account.
If you stop now, you can come back at any time. Renewing costs one year's price however long it has been, and the new year runs from today if your plan has already ended.
Those reminder emails. Emails with subjects like "Your EverWeb Updates & Support plan ends soon" are reminders about this plan. If you don't want to renew, you can ignore them.
To see this in your account, sign in to your EverWeb account page (the Client Area), go to Services > My Services and open your EverWeb Standalone license. The billing cycle shows as one-time, with no renewal date.
How to renew
Before you pay, if your computer is old: the current version may not run on a very old system. Write to us with your macOS or Windows version first and we'll tell you.
- Go to the renewal page and sign in. Or sign in to your Client Area and click Renew Now in the red banner.
- Choose EverWeb Renewal.
- Complete the payment. The price is $59.95 USD. If your account uses another currency, you'll see that amount at checkout.
- Quit EverWeb and open it again, so it picks up your renewed plan.
- Install the newest version. On a Mac, go to EverWeb > Check For Update.... On Windows, go to Help > Check For Update.... Or download it from our website and replace your existing copy. Your projects are not deleted.
You'll know it worked when the version number under the Welcome to EverWeb title is the newest one, and your website publishes.
If it still says your plan has expired, go to EverWeb > Settings > Account (Windows: Edit > Options > Account), click Sign Out, then sign in again. If that doesn't clear it, contact support.
Add-ons, domains and hosting do renew
These are separate from your license. An invoice you didn't expect is usually for one of them.
| What you have | Renews each year? | If you don't renew |
|---|---|---|
| EverWeb Standalone license | No | It keeps working. |
| Updates & Support plan | Only if you choose | See above. |
| Add-ons, such as SEO PowerUp and Site Shield | Yes | You can't use that add-on's features any more. EverWeb keeps working. |
| Domains | Yes | The domain expires and you can lose it. |
| EverWeb + Hosting | Yes | Your website and email go offline. You can still use any EverWeb version released while your account was active. New versions and support are included only while your hosting is active. |
To stop an add-on, tell support which one, and we'll cancel it along with any open invoice for it.
