Short answer: publishing does not delete anything from your server. It uploads new and changed files only. A page you delete in EverWeb stays online at its old address until the file is removed from the server. This is also true after File > Publish Entire Site.
The old page may no longer be in your menu, but anyone with the link, or Google, can still reach it.
Remove the page
If your site is on EverWeb Hosting
- Contact support with the full address of the page, or tell us you want the whole site cleared. We can remove one page or clear all your website files.
- If we clear the whole site, go to File > Publish Entire Site straight away. Your site is offline until that finishes. Clearing files is permanent, so make sure you have your project file.
If your site is on another web host
Delete the file from your server using your host's file manager or an FTP app such as Cyberduck. Your host can help if you are not sure where the files are.
Check that it worked
Open the old address in a private browser window. You should see a "Not Found" page or your site's error page.
It still appears on Google
Once the page is gone, search engines drop the old address over time as they re-check your site. To move a visitor from an old address to a new one instead, ask support about a redirect.
Why doesn't EverWeb delete it for me?
Many customers keep their own files on their server, such as PDFs, verification files and scripts. EverWeb can't tell which of them are safe to remove, so it leaves them in place.
