Yes. EverWeb can publish your website to GoDaddy, or to any other web host that gives you FTP or SFTP details. You build your website in EverWeb on your computer, enter GoDaddy's FTP details once in File > Edit Publishing Settings, and then click Publish whenever you make changes.
What you need from GoDaddy
- A web hosting plan that lets you upload your own files. GoDaddy's cPanel web hosting does. GoDaddy's own website builder plans don't let you upload a website made somewhere else. If you're not sure which plan you have, ask GoDaddy.
- Your FTP details: the server address, your FTP username and password, the protocol (FTP, FTPS or SFTP), the port, and the folder your website goes in (often
public_html). GoDaddy shows these in your hosting account, usually in cPanel under FTP Accounts. We can't see or reset them.
The steps, the settings to use and what to do if a test fails are in How do I publish my EverWeb website to another web host with FTP, FTPS or SFTP?
Good to know
- You need a copy of EverWeb that can publish: EverWeb Standalone or EverWeb + Hosting. The free trial can't publish.
- Contact forms and Membership Sites need PHP. GoDaddy's cPanel hosting runs PHP. We recommend PHP 8.2 or later, which you can choose in your hosting settings or ask GoDaddy to set.
- The padlock (HTTPS): GoDaddy supplies the security certificate for websites it hosts. If your site says "Not Secure", see My site says 'Not Secure': how to get HTTPS (SSL) on your website.
- Simple Password (password-protected directories) only works on EverWeb + Hosting. On GoDaddy, use Membership Sites instead. See Can I password protect my website? Simple Password and Membership Sites.
- Replacing an old website on GoDaddy? Publishing doesn't delete files that are already there. See Will publishing with EverWeb overwrite my existing website?
- Domain at GoDaddy, website on EverWeb + Hosting? That works too. Your domain stays registered at GoDaddy and you point it to us. See Point your domain to EverWeb Hosting (update nameservers / DNS).
