Thread: Default Navigation Vertical
We will be adding the vertical navigation menu back at a later date.

When building a website, either by using one of the built-in templates, or by starting a site from scratch, you should already have the navigation menu included on the page. This way, you will not constantly have to drag the navigation menu widget onto the page.

The templates in the beta version are not final, so if you come across templates that do not have navigation menus already on them, just know they will have them when EasyWeb is officially released.

If you want a vertical navigation menu, there is a way to do it, though it might not work out perfectly the way you want it to, so some users may opt to build a navigation menu manually.

The navigation menu's width can be adjusted so that each link is on its own and the menu is vertical. You may need to play around with the Padding and Spacing values to get each link on its own line. If you are going to make the nav menu have a background color, you will need to make sure to set the Minimum Width value to something that is slightly larger than the link in the navigation menu that has the most characters. Just click the up arrow on the Minimum Width field and hold it looks right. Note: this vertical nav should not have a line stroke added to it. Also, if you begin adding new pages to the navigation menu, it may throw off the entire look of the navigation menu. Also, you will not be able to align the text center or right. It will need to remain left. You will also not be able to use drown menus.

Just to repeat what was mentioned earlier, this might not work out perfectly for everyone, but if you were looking to make a vertical navigation, it is an option worth trying. The vertical navigation menu will be added back to the navigation menu widget in the future, but for the time being, if this method works for you, then you can still have a vertical navigation.

Thread: no-cache tag
Will EasyWeb allow to add tags - like "no-cache" tag and others - that we are used to add to iWeb sites with services like iWeb SEO Tool? Or do we still need to use other apps to add them <!-- s:?: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

A way to preview without having to publish it would be far more convenient, don't you think?

While that seems to be a nice option to have, I wouldn't overdo it since it's very bad in terms of SEO. Graphic text can't be found by crawlers.[/quote:y5ntmt54]
A valid point. But sometimes the appearance is more important. What I liked about iWeb, coming from a classical design background, was that it gave me absolute freedom of design. Just like designing for print. And in combination with Pages it was just killer. I've actually come to use Pages more and more instead of InDesign or QuarkXPress. I could design a poster or flyer in Pages, then copy and paste it into iWeb and with just minor changes, I could have a webpage that looked just like the printed material. It was wonderful.

And I think they should aim to get EasyWeb to that level of freedom of design.

Thread: First Impressions
Yeah, but... What if I want to rotate the text 0.9 degrees counter clockwise and have another text partly covering the first?

Work arounds are fine and all. I'm just trying to make the point that in iWeb you had almost absolute freedom when you designed. That, to me, was the biggest reason for using iWeb instead of more conventional web design tools such as Dreamweaver etc.

And my hope is that EasyWeb will eventually develop into a true replacement for iWeb, which it in the current state isn't to me.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good start, and maybe the things I want/need won't be in it until version 2 or 3, and that's fine, but until then it will lack the fundamental things that made iWeb so great.

I would like to take the WebEasy projects created on my MacBook and edit them on my iMac, where are the projects stored?

Thread: Floating / wrapped text around images
This is something that will be added to EasyWeb in a future release. For the time being, you will need to use the two text box option.

Thread: Photogallery like iWeb
I've testet the application now for a few hours and I can say, that the app is really good. On my websites there are over 60% of the content photos. And that's the point. I really miss the function, like I have in iWeb. I don't like the Slider like EasyWeb and all the other websites have. Because I don't want just view the photos in a slideshow, but I want to click through the photos one by one.

Here like it is now in iWeb. This must be function of EasyWeb too!

Thread: Duplicate page
Is it possible to duplicate a page like we could in iweb? I spend alot of time formatting the page, text boxes, etc the way I like it and don't want to have to recreate it for each page of my site. I'd rather just duplicate the page and change the body of the page rather than starting over. Is that possible?
