Build a website for your church, mosque, synagogue or temple with EverWeb

A website for a faith community helps newcomers feel welcome before they arrive and keeps members up to date: when you meet, where, what's on, and how to take part or give. EverWeb works for any tradition. You can post service and prayer times, recordings of sermons and talks, a calendar of events, and in EverWeb 4.6 and later, forms that take offerings, registrations and bookings.

Who uses this

  • A mosque posts its prayer timetable each month and recordings of the Friday khutbah.
  • A synagogue takes registrations for High Holy Days seats and classes for adults.
  • A Hindu temple takes bookings for festival pujas, with an offering paid online.
  • A small church posts the Sunday sermon as audio and a weekly newsletter as a PDF.

Features marked (add-on) need the Contact Forms Enhanced add-on. Payments and signatures also need EverWeb 4.6 or later. See What is the Contact Forms Enhanced Add-on?

EverWeb features that help

Times on every page

Put this week's times, or a link to them, in the footer of your Master Page, so you change them in one place. For a monthly prayer or service timetable, upload a PDF and use Replace Asset... each month: the link stays the same. If a prayer times service gives you embed code, or you keep your events in Google Calendar, paste its embed code into an HTML Snippet widget (Add a booking calendar, Instagram feed or other outside code with the HTML Snippet widget). See Put the same header, menu and footer on every page with a Master Page and Replace an image or PDF everywhere at once, and clear out files you no longer use (the Assets list).

Sermons, talks and recordings

The Audio widget plays an MP3 on your page, such as a sermon, khutbah, dvar Torah or a recorded reading. For a large archive, an audio service saves hosting space. For video, upload to YouTube or Vimeo and show it in a shape with its Fill set to Video. For a live stream, link a button to it, or paste the embed code from your streaming service into an HTML Snippet widget. See Add music or a podcast to your website (the Audio widget) and How do I add a video, a background video or music to my EverWeb website?.

Giving (add-on)

A form can take one-off gifts: preset amounts with Segmented Buttons, an "any amount" Stepper with a Unit Price of 1, and separate funds, such as a building fund or a festival, as Radio Button choices. Each giver gets a thank-you confirmation email. For regular monthly giving, use the recurring tools in your PayPal or Stripe account, or Membership Sites paid plans. Check your local rules on what an official receipt must include. See Take donations on your website with a contact form.

Registrations and bookings (add-on for payments and dates)

Take registrations for classes, retreats or festival seats with Card Select and a Stepper for the number of places. For hall hire, or enquiries about weddings, naming ceremonies and other occasions, Calendar and Select Time let people suggest a date; the form doesn't check your diary, so confirm by email. For children's activities, a Consent tick box and a parent's Signature can record permission: check that a signature on a web form is enough for your use. See Event registration and ticket sales with your contact form and Take bookings and deposits with your contact form.

Questions and pastoral requests

A short form lets people ask a question or request a visit or prayer. These messages can be personal, so say on the form who reads them and ask only for what you need.

A members' area

Simple Password (EverWeb + Hosting) protects a section with usernames and passwords you create, for rotas or committee papers. Membership Sites gives each member their own login. See Can I password protect my website? Simple Password and Membership Sites.

For everyone in your community

You can build pages in two languages, such as English and Urdu. Larger text and good contrast help older members and people who use screen readers. A Search Field helps people find an old sermon. See Build a website in two languages, Make your website accessible: alt text, headings, link text and contrast and Add a search box to your website so visitors can find any page.

Volunteers and the long term

Keep the EverWeb account and domain in the community's name, and the project file in a shared folder, so the website doesn't depend on one person. See Build a website for your club, church or nonprofit with EverWeb. If your community is a registered charity or nonprofit, we offer discounts: contact us.
