No. Your EverWeb website works on phones and tablets as it is. How well it fits a small screen depends on the type of page you built, and you can improve it without starting again.
Which type of page do you have?
Select a page and go to Inspector > Page Settings > Page Layout.
| Centered Layout page, plus a Mobile Page | Responsive page | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A fixed-width page, with a separate page just for phones | One page that rearranges itself to fit every screen |
| On a phone without changes | Shows at its desktop width, so visitors may need to zoom | Fits, as long as nothing on it is too wide |
| Updating | Two pages to keep up to date for each page you want on phones | One page to update |
| Placing things | Drag anything anywhere, as in iWeb | Objects flow down the page in Containers. Allow free dragging places one anywhere. |
| Best for | Keeping your current design, especially a site that started in iWeb | A new site or a redesign |
Which should you choose?
- You like your design and it's Centered Layout: keep it and add a Mobile Page for the pages that matter most. Phones go to it automatically. See My website looks wrong on a phone: how mobile works in EverWeb.
- You're starting again, or have many pages: use Responsive pages. Learn Containers first, as they decide how things stack on a phone. See Build a responsive page with Containers so it stacks neatly on a phone.
- Your Responsive page is cut off or jumbled on a phone: you don't need to redesign. An object is usually too wide. See My website looks fine on my computer but is cut off or jumbled on my phone.
Don't change the Page Layout of an existing page to make it responsive. It can rearrange your whole design, and you can't undo it. Add a new Responsive page and move your content across instead.
