| Thread: What do you like about EasyWeb? |
|
I read most of the comments above and prepared myself with the "Mind Set", this is not iWeb. With that the initial reaction was the same as others have commented, bland in colour and "I don't like this".If I had just forked out $99, there would be great disappointment. It's growing on me as the day goes on and I learn a little more, but its very slow progress. How about an information bar, I don't know the proper name, but where you point the mouse over something and you get a box with information/instruction. If its simple to implement, it could be a big game changer based on most people's comments and the "I don't like this" initial reaction most of us have had. |

| Thanks Paul for understanding. It's gotta be a horrid job to try and please everyone. I do understand the learning curve and the unique and privileged position we are all in here with a Beta version. We are all at different knowledge levels, but the simpler the better. I am aware that we can get so emerged in a subject, that we cannot see the woods for the trees. I will give another brief at the end of the week. With the sound of other comments, I think I'll love it! |
@Davidson2: Can you please elaborate a little bit more on what you didn't like? We believe EasyWeb is very similar to iWeb, but with many more features. We really need to know specifics in order to make it better. Quote: How about an information bar, I don't know the proper name, but where you point the mouse over something and you get a box with information/instruction. Where do you want these boxes? What exactly are you referring to here?[/quote:2gatrtdp] Thanks Jeff, yea, a "Tool Tip". Bearing in mind that probably about 50% of your customers may not have used iWeb before, there needs to be just that extra piece of comfort and guidance. I hate when I buy software, (Pixelmator as an example) and I feel deflated at not knowing what to do. As someone who normally steers away from forums, the program makes me feel... Well, Stupid. I read great reviews, then discover I need (what feels like) a Stanford degree to understand it. This can be where people, like me, feel deflated, defeated and as I said "Stupid". I believe consumers want... No expect a piece of software for their iPhone, iPad or iMac to in Steve Jobs words "Just Work". We don't expect a manual or for it to need more brain power than spreading toast. It's just an Apple expectation thing I guess. Anyway, back to the point; A tool tip for guidance would solve most of the above, even just a sentence or so with a link if required. I think you are looking for a simple product. "Simplicity can be very complicated to achieve." There you are, my quote off the day. The above is all intended as positive input from a simple Scotsman, who is looking for a simple solution. I also think that I speak on behalf of most of the customers that you hope to gain and whilst its probably a huge job to implement, it could make the difference with Reviews especially as people tend to complain more than they praise. Hope that helps. |

4 Days now using easyweb (Beta 9) ... i have to say that having copied my iWeb site over, easyweb is "easy". Before publishing, there seems to be so much extra to add, based on some of the examples Jeff ... Roddy have displayed. The options really do seem to be endless right now! Echoing previous posts, Jeremys videos always make things look easy, so yes, the more tutorials the better, especially for launch ... reviews. |

If there are any requests for certain types of themes, please list them here. There are no guarantees that these requests will all be granted but this is a good opportunity for those who do have some theme requests to make them. Thank you. |

Some of the comments are more of features requests, and as we continue to develop EasyWeb, we will be incorporating as many of these features as possible (for example, responsive design). For this thread, we are more curious to see if there are any themes in particular that some people would like to request. Yes, a lot of users have a creative side to them and will want to design their own layout, and that is why EasyWeb is so special, because creating your own layout is so simple - just like it is in iWeb. But, there still are a lot of users, specifically small business owners who don't want to spend the thousands of dollars on hiring a web designer, and just need a fast and easy way to launch their businesses online presence. These will be the users I suspect will utilize the built-in templates the most. So rather than create generic themes for people to work with, we would prefer to make more industry specific, that way a dentist for example, can launch EasyWeb and locate a theme made for dentists, add their own photos, modify some text, click publish, and have their sites online. |

I am brand new to the Beta Forum and was surprised in opening EasyWeb that there was no category for Schools/Education themes. There are a lot of teachers, instructors and schools out there who are looking for easy drag and drop themes. |

School teacher themes are currently in production. I suspect one will be released within the next week. Edit: The school teacher theme I mentioned was designed more for an elementary school teacher, though it could certainly be used by any teacher and/or an institution. |
I wouldn't mind having a template for photographers or maybe musical stuff (like music production, choirs etc.).[/quote:1e5tyy35] Photographer is also in production, and a musical one as well. The musical related theme is geared more towards a band, but could definitely be used for a product company, voiceover artist, choir, glee club, etc. |

| How about some holiday themes. I publish a personal family website every month and change themes monthly to add a little current event or upcoming event. I know I could probably do it starting with a blank page but having a theme already in place would save me a lot of time. |

| I know a lot of artists/crafters (not catering to photographers) would appreciate a template for their line of work. |

| Thread: Advanced Gradient Fill issue |
|
Hello everybody! I just downloaded the latest Beta and started to rebuild a site I made in iWeb. This issue is one of the things I encountered in Easyweb. I am making an advanced gradient fill in a square shape and the first thing I saw was that the gradient fill isn't nicely gradient. It goes from one color to the other in a number of 'color steps'. Very ugly. When I use the circle gradient in iWeb, I can place the inner color where I want with my mouse and a line appears to adjust the gradient. I don't see that in Easyweb. The third thing is that the sliders to adjust the place of both colors sometimes don't react or suddenly disappear. I hope you can update this issue. Thanks! Jan |
