Can I share my website project file with another user or computer?

Yes. To work on a project from more than one computer, or with another person, keep it in a shared Dropbox folder. This video tutorial on sharing an EverWeb project file shows how to set it up.

Keep your project safe

Sharing works well when everyone follows these rules:

  1. Let it finish syncing. Wait until Dropbox has finished before you open the project on another computer or turn this one off. Large projects can take a while.
  2. Only one person at a time. Make sure the project is closed on one computer before anyone opens it on another.
  3. Keep the project in the shared folder. Don't move it out or work from a separate copy, so that there's only ever one version to keep track of.
  4. Use the same version of EverWeb on every computer.

If something looks wrong

If the project won't open or your recent changes are missing, stop editing and check that Dropbox has finished syncing and that you've opened the latest copy. If that doesn't help, you can restore a backup.

Sharing with another person

Each person who works on the project needs their own EverWeb license. See Can I use EverWeb on my desktop and laptop computer?
