Viewing Blog page theme [noob]

Blog page theme [noob]

User: Lance L. 2 years ago
Hi all,

I'm brand new here, and just trying out EverWeb. I'm a wordpress refugee (just way too geeky for me). I have zip formal computer training, but do enjoy tinkering. EW looks pretty good so far, and I'm enjoying the learning (though very early in the piece). Not committing just yet though. So that's the intro out of the way ...

So to the question: Page 128 of the EW User Manual on creating a blog. Looking at this sentence: Quote:
In the Template Chooser, select a Theme from the left hand column that has a ‘blog’ page or select the ‘Blank’ Theme Template to design your own blog theme.
It's the second half of that that interests me, I think. I've started with a theme that doesn't come with a blog page. I had a try at getting the new blog page to play with my Master Page, but not much success.

I also can't find anything in any of the support features that elaborates on the above sentence from the manual. Can someone enlighten me, please. Thanks.

When you say, "not much success" what exactly do you mean? What happens when you try?

You should be able to just add any template with a blog on it, including the blank template. Then add your design elements (or assign a an existing Master Page).

Let me know what happens when you try the above and I can provide some specific advice for your situation.

Hi guys,

Thanks for getting back. Paul, I think I've fixed it, and what you said did make sense. I think my problem wasn't actually the blog page. It was something more basic around getting an image into the header and figuring out master pages. It was while I was trying to add design elements to the blog page that I faced the first challenge, so I decided the blog page was the problem. Turns out it wasn't. So I now have the blog page (and other pages) the way I wanted it as far as theme goes.

But while I'm here, I might ask something further re the blog setup. I'm struggling to envision what a site visitor would see when they visit the blog page. Would they see a page with with a list of blog headings under the same header they see on other pages? Or would the header look different? And when they click on a blog post, what then? Do they get a new page with just that post and again the same header at the top? Or something else? Thanks.
