Multiple 1.8.0 Build 1404 problems

User: Larry D. 8 years ago
Yesterday I was given a notice of a new EverWeb version, 1.8.0 Build 1404, so I downloaded and installed it. Big mistake!

The good news is that is seems to load the web site faster, save a lot faster, and render the site faster and that is where the problems begin.

I make changes, like adding a new page and then publish (always to a internal disk) in like 1 second. But it doesn't publish all the changes to all the pages' drop down menus. So, I select "Publish Entire Site" (not functional) but that only takes one second as well and does nothing. I quit and restart but that does not help.

Many of the pages are completely trashed renderings. They still look ok in EverWeb but not in the browsers, even if attempt to re-publish (another issue). So, I take each page, command a, command x, command v and then save and publish. That fixes that page but not the rest. I have nearly 40 pages.

Many of my pages are product pages with multiple pictures. On the pictures are small text boxes with product labels or information. They are almost always white letter with black box (not letter) backgrounds set to 50% opacity. This gives a semi-transparent box background with full letter color (100% letter opacity). All of these boxes now have a rendered 50% letter opacity. Looks fine in EverWeb but does not render properly. That represents several hundred letter boxes I have to make to overlay the 50% opacity boxes by command x the letters, create a new text box, command v the text and overlay the existing 50% opacity black box behind it in separate box.

I am not a happy camper and would appreciate a response from the author and a fix.

You may have added some features, not sure what those are, for the ones I've seen are not good.

I'm still having issues with fonts in EverWeb version, 1.8.0 Build 1404. Looks fine in Everweb app but once published on server some fonts go haywire, to be more specific, size and position, and what's even more disturbing his that I'm using web safe fonts.

You may have to make a slight modification to each page and then publish. There is a slight bug with adding new pages and seeing the changes in the navigation bar. We will have a fix out very soon for this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The font formatting issues is usually just a matter of emptying your browser cache or publishing your entire site. More trouble shooting tips regarding font issues can be found here.

Sorry, but that just is not the problem. I finally gave up and went back to 1.75, and published the entire site (which works in 1.75, unlike 1.8) and everything is fixed with the exception of those things I changed due to the problems with 1.8.

I spent many hours trying to get 1.8 to work. Publishing the entire site DOES NOT WORK. Please don't side step the problem by trying to make it about my cache and calling it a slight problem. You have major issues with 1.8 that need to be addressed, not waved off.

Looking forward to the new and fixed version, but for now better the devil I know (1.75) than the one you don't (1.8).

I downloaded v1.8.0 build 1404 from the prompt advising the new version but it trashes my site when I publish to a local folder. Fortunately I didn't publish to the server. Main problem is most of the text formatting gets lost, plus many of the photos have gone AWOL. I find repeatedly publishing can do some repairs but there's clearly a real problem here.

I'm finding that Roddy's 'dotswipe slider' and 'click expand' widget no longer work on some of my photos in v1.8.0 build 1404 or 1407, all fine in v1.7......

@Oliver: I never called it a "slight" problem. I said "You may have to make a slight modification to each page and then publish". Meaning you have to mark the page as modified so that EverWeb knows to republish it.

Nowhere did I imply that we were "waving off" any issues with any versions of our software. I am sorry if you got that impression from my reply, but I did not say that.

In order to provide more specific, I need to see the page published somewhere. Otherwise I can only provide the likely answer, which is what I sent you.

We are publishing the EverWeb site and all of our test sites without issues.

@Martin and @Stephan: I need to see your websites published somewhere, or your project files sent to us. Otherwise there is no way for me to know what the issue is.

I have the same problems with fonts going haywire and look completely different in Chrome browser after publishing!

Also... slight changes to the site seem to take much longer to upload to server and I'm using a brand new iMac with Yosemite 10.10!

Much worse in Version 1.8.0 Build 1404 than before... I can't seem to fix these issues so I will have to return to Version 1.7.5 for now!

Everweb support had been AMAZING so far, so I expect a fix and an update very soon :-)

QUESTION? Can we import the 1.8 version project file into 1.7.5 and republish to fix these issues?? Just a thought...

That's what I'm doing to fix the problem - importing the 1.8 project file back into v1.7.5 and I've got my website back thank goodness, formatting is all back as it should be and Roddy's widgets are working again.

Hi Martin... thanks for your reply!
Have you seen any issues with importing that project file into 1.7.5 from 1.8?
I thought it might be a temporary workaround ;-)
User: Paul-RAGESW 8 years ago
Guys, if you don't provide your website URL showing these issues (even publishing to a temporary URL by adding temporary into the sub directory field), there is no way for me to know what is wrong or to help any further than the general trouble shooting articles.

I would like to help you all get this resolved ASAP but I cannot reproduce these issues on our end and I haven't seen any of your websites to know what the problem could be.

Paul, I've uploaded my project to my test site but after repeated publishing the formatting problem has corrected itself so that won't be much use to you. The problem with Roddy's widgets persists though. If you go to the STATION page in the top nav menu, you'll see the dotswipe widget doesn't work (no photos at all) and the click hover photo at bottom right isn't there at all. The test site is at :

http://www.mcnollie.co.uk/

Simon - no issues I've found so far....

Please make sure you are using the latest 1.8.1 beta version that was recently posted here.

If you still have trouble after downloading that one and using File->Publish Entire Site, please let me know.

Just re-published the whole site using v1.8.1 build 1408 beta, formatting is OK but Roddy's widgets still don't work. Relevant webpage is on my test site at :

http://www.mcnollie.co.uk/

go to the STATION tab on the top menu and the 'dotswipe' widget photos are all missing and the click hover photo at bottom right is missing completely. It all works fine in v1.7.5...

Why not provide a clickable link to the actual page :

All links to the images are to files on your computer :
