has anyone looked at the upcoming 1.8 version? It does have more responsive features in it

Thes are not responsive features - they are just 100% wide and, at this time, the content cannot be made to stay centerd at varying browser widths.

Using the responsive header and footer widgets, some content can be centered in a full width sticky header and footer while other times can move with the browser width if required using the new control to fix their position. See this DEMO for how to insert these in both V1.7 and the upcomimg V1.8..

Yes, thank you Roddy right as always... perhaps fluid would have been more appropriate...

Fluid is where the container widths are expressed as percentages and the content flows to adapted to changes in browser - and therefore container - width.

Responsive designs change the actual style and position of containers with changes in screen/device width using media queries.

On THIS PAGE, the content is mainly fluid whereas on THIS ONE, the contentt blocks rearrange themselves depending on device width.

To make it easy for the inexperienced user to create responsive page, many templates are based on column layouts. This could probably be achieved in EverWeb using responsive page templates but these would, by their very nature, be very limiting. Those who have tried using a Wordpress responsive template will be aware of the disadvantages of this method.
