Viewing FTP wants to load the entire site for minor change

FTP wants to load the entire site for minor change

User: Courtney H. 12 years ago
Is there a trick to getting this right?

I have a site hosted on a 3rd party. I make a very minor change to one page, save, then select Publish Site Changes via FTP.
It uploads the entire site each time.
Almost 2 hours.

Is this a bug or am I missing some important step?
No, none of the folder icons are red including the one with the minor change. It changed from red to white when it was saved.

Thanks.

Are you using the latest 1.3.1 release? This version fixes problems with publishing to FTP servers.

Hi Paul -

Yes. I'm running 1.3.1 version 1220.
When I'm running the FTP to the third party site, should I SAVE first? I'm wondering if I'm taking the wrong steps.
Thank you.

I would try uploading without saving first to see if that works.

Thanks Roddy but no luck.
I made a minor change to the front page, clicked on Publish and it noted it saved to a directory.
I then clicked on the site name in the upper left and set it to FTB. At that point all page icons changed to red. I aborted at this point.

Do you mean FTP?

If so that would explain why it is publishing all files. If you change the publishing destination, it must publish all files.

Thanks Paul. That's understandable. I am confused about one thing - should I SAVE before uploading via FTB? I've tried so many combinations I forget what happens but seems I remember that will also cause all page icons to go red.
BTW - the "remember me" when logging in here doesn't seems to remember me.

You don't have to save before publishing, EverWeb will save your project once your files are published.

Still no luck with the FTP upload.
Here's the process...
I upload all files using FTP. When done, I exit, leaving the setting at "upload to FTP".
The next day I open the program, make a minor change to one page and click on the site name in the upper left. The settings show "upload to folder". If I change it back to FTP, everything turns red and I have to spend 2 hours uploading the entire site.
The upload settings seems to default always to folder forcing a complete upload by FTP.
Yes, I can use FileZilla but I want to get the EverWeb internal FTP working.
