Hi All, Im sorry if this is a very easy question but when i search for the answer all i get is how to download a PDF. I have a PDF catalogue that i have sectioned. I would like it that when a customer selects the relevant section they can view the PDF’s in a book style or a slider option. I do not wish for it to open a separate window, ideally i would like them to stay on one of my pages so its easier for them to link to another section if they wish. Is this possible? Many thanks for the advise/support |

I'm not sure I fully understand what you want to do. If you want someone to click a section WITHIN the PDF that would be something you would need to set up with whatever you use to create your PDF files. If you want to show your PDF has a "book" interface on your website where people can read it like a book, you'd have to find some kind of script or third party widget to do that. I don't know of any off hand, I'm sorry. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

There are various ways of creating flip book style presentations. I did create a widget for a simple Flip Book but withdrew it when the code was broken in later versions of Firefox. Perhaps the easiest way is to sign up for a service like ISSUU. I'm sure it progressed a lot since I used it. Purchasing a jQuery Plugin like Wow Book is only an option if you are familiar with code insertion. You could opt for a free trial of FlippingBook to see if you can successfully create and embed it in EverWeb. Software such as Flip Builder - which converts PDF to flip books is expensive - but they do have a free trial. Again, you would need to make sure embedding the result in EverWeb was within your capability. Flip books are not really a good solution for the tablet version of the site and definitely not for the smart phone version. Using a slider is an option if you convert the PDF pages to images although lazy loading would be preferable if you are presenting more than a handful of slides. A swipe slider should be used on the tablet and smart phone versions of the site. Another option would be to use a lightbox Gallery or one with thumbnail captions to add page descriptions. A full screen option would be useful on the full version of the website. An Image Stack could also be used. Although this launches in another window, it does have a back button and has the advantage of not loading down the main page with huge files. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Thank you Roddy, That's mighty decent of you to give me a few options. I can spend a bit of time researching them now. Thanks 🙂 |
