when removing images from website should I also remove them from the assets folder?

the nature of our website I will be adding & removing several images weekly & the task of finding them in the assets folder is a bit time consuming.

thanks Paul.
It would be good if I could delete more than one at a time, i.e. highlighting a load and deleting all at once. Or if the folder could switch to alphabetical to make it easier to find images.
Quick question is it OK to drag straight from iPhoto to assets folder & when I publish (to a folder) should I then run it through web crusher. This what I do with current web site done with iWeb. Kind regards. Really enjoying ever web so far & its great that it improving all the time. Andy

Yes we are working on better asset management as it was a highly requested feature based on the survey we are doing now (see the announcements section in this forum to participate).

We haven't focused on making sure webcrusher is fully compatible with EverWeb yet. If you turn off CSS and JavaScript Optimizations in the preferences then you can safely use it with EverWeb like you did with iWeb.

should I be compressing images before adding them to everweb?

Website images are a trade off between file size/quality and download speed.

Download the trial version of ImageWell

First adjust the image for size so that it is reduced to the actual size it will appear on the page. Then experiment with the quality slider to see which is the lowest acceptable one.

The application gives a visual indication of the file size as you drag the sliders.

Thanks for that Roddy I will have a look later.
At present I have been using straight from iPhoto (about 3mb) and then running site through web crusher and compressing photos to ...
637,624 bytes (639 KB on disk)
do you recon that's a little on the large size as some pages will have 12 images.
I must say you have been very helpful. Thanks again. Andy

I would say around 120KB is big enough for that number of images.

Try doing as I suggested and reduce the image to the size that it will appear on the web page before importing it into EverWeb.
If your web page is 980px wide, there's not much point in importing an image that is 2400px wide!
