Can anyone recommend a good FTP program for Mac

Hi Roddy,

My goal was not to start a war on which software is the best ; not at all... It's just that I am satisfied with Transmit, it offers me exactly what I want and the interface is user friendly, easy to navigate and so on... I unfortunately didn't look at Yummy when I was looking at buying an FTP software. Maybe I should have... I was using Cyberduck before switching to Transmit and I am now in HEAVENS ! That is the reason why I didn't look at something else.

Maybe I am missing the boat completely ! I came from the time where we had to install tons of different software on a Windows Computer to be able to use all the features that we wanted (back to Win 2.0 ! ! !) that, when I switched to Mac in 2008 (too late in fact ; I should have switched earlier...), I took the decision to install only 1 software that satisfies my needs. It's like Everweb. That is the only one installed on my Macs because I believe that it will be the greatest at some point !

I'm only making the point that people read these posts to gain insight and may think that have to spend that kind of money for an FTP app to be able to upload their EverWeb sites.

It's a question of horses for courses. I once had a website client who used PhotoShop to crop images, add a © notice and reduce the file size for the web. He was stunned to see me doing the same thing in less time than it took him to even launch the 800 pound gorilla. I was using ImageWell which costs 10 bucks and was also available in a slightly less featured free version which would do the same thing without the batch mode.

Some former iWeb users may remember when Apple first introduced there disastrous attempt at built in FTP. It was licensed from Panic - the developers of transmit! At the time, I was sent a copy of Transmit to prove that it wasn't Panics software but Apple's implementation that was causing the problem. I did test it but didn't see any reason to switch from Yummy.

As soon as Yummy introduced the lite version, I stopped recommending the full featured version since it contains a host of features that most users haven't even heard of and are unlikely ever to need - horses for courses!

Marc, do not worry...:) There is no war here...:) I personally really appreciate all the clarifications - after reading all the info and trying the free trial versions of other programs I realized that my needs are met by Cyberduck and there is no need for me to change the software. I am used to it, have no problems with it whatsoever and so here it goes. But it is nice to know there are other options and what they offer...So thank you to everybody for your input....

CyberDuck

My favourite is CyberDuck, however, in regards to the original post, you do not need to worry about this because the next version of EverWeb contains a publish to FTP feature, so there is no need to use an FTP client.

Almost true...I do have some files that still need to be uploaded via CyberDuck (or other program)...But for me personally it is not a problem...
