Frames on selected items

User: Guest 12 years ago
Hi

When I am working around in EasyWeb and chaning positions and sizes of my content, I really miss some dotted lines (Or other kind of lines) as the frame of my objects when i move an resize them, especially text boxes.

Is that something that could be considered added?

The EasyWeb Show/Hide Layout command is the same as iWeb and can be found in the Window drop down menu. You can also use the keyboard command - shift/command/L

Why would you need dotted lines to appear on selected items? You need to see the outlines of all the items so that you can place the one you are moving in relation to the others and to make sure none of them are touching or overlapping.

What happens if they touch or overlap? Does that cause problems?

I haven't seen what happens with EasyWeb but with iWeb this would cause the layout to get screwed up in Internet Explorer.

If you want to have overlapping objects you should use the Arrange menu to apply z-index to make sure they are layered correctly. Z-index defines the stacking order of elements and can be negative or positive.

A good example would be a drop down navigation menu. A fairly high value of positive z-index would be applied to make sure the drop downs appear in front of any objects below it.
