Can I notify people when my site has been updated?

Hi All, Is there a way to tell people who visit my site that it has been updated. E.g. when I upload modifications via FTP or add new articles via FTP. Could I use an RSS feed for this and is this difficult to do? Any advice greatly appreciated. Not really, they would need to subscribe to a newsletter (or your RSS Feed) in order for you to be able to reach out to them and tell them.

If your site is in any way commercial you should be collecting visitors names and email addresses and compiling a database for bulk mailing of news and updates.
