Viewing A simple question to EasyWeb

A simple question to EasyWeb

User: Jens_C 12 years ago
Hello there,

I followed all the EasyWeb version updates and i must say it's wonderful to see how EasyWeb every update again grows in the good direction.

Now my question is the follow.;

I want to begin making my new site with EasyWeb. I want a modern flat design for my site but i think i struggled to the first problem in EasyWeb, i think.
I want to have just only a background with a blue colour. After that i want a layer with a different colour on it, under that layer i want another layer with a defferent colour.

What i mean is the following that you can see on the Skype site here: http://www.skype.com/en/
You see the Skype site have a white background but lower on the page you see a light grey and dark gray layer. When you hit 'cmd' + '-' you make the browser page smaller and you see the layers also become smaller, and the content just stay nice centered on the page.

This is exactly what i want to on my site. A looked at the dynamic width and this is almost the function what i looked for but all my content centered in the left. So i tried the centered layout. Now my content is indeed centered. But i make my layers 2000px width because i want that on every screen the layers taken the whole width of the browser just as the Skype site.
But in the centered layout i have a scroll bar in the horizontal way and i can scroll to the right where i just see empty page space.

Now what is my question or suggestion. Can you make something on EasyWeb that have a function just as the Skype site and also many other site's have that the width is dynamic so automatic on the width of the browser and that also the content is centered.

I think the dynamic layout and centered layout on EasyWeb are both a step to this. But can u mix them toghether or something so that it just work like on the Skype site.

Thank you very very much. I hope you have a solution for this.

Ps: When you scroll in the 'site publishing settings' it takes a year to scroll down. Make the scrolling faster because you need to scroll 10 times for just see 50px more of content.

You can copy the Skype website exactly just use different shapes and set their fill colors.

As for the dynamic width this is known as responsive design and is something we are working on.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

So the dynamic width option is what i mean that the content centers auto and that the layers just take auto the width of the browser like the Skype site ?

A dynamic width is expressed as a percentage rather than a fixed number of pixels and allows the content to flow when the browser width is increased/decreased.

Unless you specify otherwise, the page with "dynamic" width takes up the full browser width so there is no browser background. By default it is left aligned.

For a design like the Skype one you would have a page with a 100% width and set a maximum width in pixels or ems so that the browser background shows on wider screens/browser widths. You would also need to center align the page "container" div.

A simple dynamic (fluid) width website is not a responsive site since the layout can look kind of stupid on some screen widths.

On the Skype site, media queries are used to control the layout in different screen/browser widths.
