| Hello! I have a video (external file) I'd like visitors to se able to see in 4k if they're looking at it on a computer. 4k is 400MB. Now, it's a 1080 video (220MB) . Can I do that? Thanks. | |

You can add a 4K video, but a 400MB video file is very large and will likely affect both page loading speed and bandwidth usage, especially if multiple visitors watch it. If you add the video file directly in EverWeb using the Video widget, visitors will need to load a very large amount of data, which will likely slow page loading and can also lead to high bandwidth usage. For this type of video, I would generally recommend uploading it to YouTube or Vimeo and embedding it in EverWeb using the YouTube or Vimeo widget instead. Those platforms are optimized for streaming large videos, including 4K, and will usually provide a much better experience for visitors without impacting your website's performance as much. If you prefer to host the video directly in EverWeb, I would recommend staying with the 1080p version. | Thanks J.S.! The problem with YouTube is they think my recordings of Beethoven and Mozart - the ones I play MYSELF on cello and violin - are copyrighted! So I prefer to have Everweb host them. | |

Hi Jurgen, I completely understand wanting to avoid YouTube for this. The main tradeoff with a 400MB 4K video is that it may load more slowly for some visitors depending on their internet connection and device, and it will also use more bandwidth. That said, EverWeb Hosting plans include a generous amount of bandwidth, so this may not be an issue unless the video gets viewed very frequently. If preserving the highest quality for your performances is the priority, though, it may still be worth trying the 4K version.
