Canonical page issue... on a PDF

| I understand the basic issue regarding "Duplicate without user-selected canonical" as it applies to web pages. But how come Google flags that error on a PDF document? I have lots of links to external files (PDF). Some are fine, but others get flagged. And they are only linked in one single location. WTF? (This doesn't really matter all that much to me since it's just a couple of hobby websites but gee, why does this happen?) | |

Hi Gary, Google can show that warning on PDFs when it thinks the same file is available through more than one URL, for example `http` vs `https` or with and without `www`. Since PDFs cannot use the usual HTML canonical tag, Search Console sometimes classifies them as “duplicate without user-selected canonical”. It is not specific to EverWeb, it is just how Google handles indexing and canonicalization. Best regards, M.S. ------------------------------- EverWeb Customer Support Submit Tickets or Learn More |
