Viewing Opening outside website from Navigation Bar

Opening outside website from Navigation Bar

User: Chilmark S. 19 days ago
I know how to add code to the header box to go to a outside website however I don't want the current tab to go to that website but a new tab so that the original tab either stays at the blank page I created or better yet stays on my page I was just on.

Hi,

Just to clarify, do you want your external link to open in a **new browser tab** so that your current page stays open and doesn’t navigate away?

Exactly. New tab. Old tab stays the same

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification.

From your first message, it sounds like the behavior is coming from custom code added in the Head Code section. EverWeb can’t control or adjust how custom scripts behave, and we’re not able to troubleshoot or modify custom code.

Before we can point you in the right direction, could you confirm how the link was added?

- Did you create a blank page and add a custom redirect script in that page’s Head Code section?
- Or are you using another method, like an HTML Snippet?

If your explanation requires sharing details that shouldn’t be posted publicly in the forum, please open a support ticket and include the information there instead.

Once we know how the link is being created, we can let you know what is or isn’t possible with EverWeb’s built-in features.

Best regards,
M.S.

Actually no. It's is code, but it's the code Everweb posted on opening an external web page. That has worked fine. I realize that I'm asking the page to do two things. Opening a new tab AND go to an external website. Perhaps I should break it up? Open a new tab connected to the Navigator Bar and then have that tab go to an external website on the newly opened tab.

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

Because this involves custom code and a specific setup inside your project, the best next step is to open a support ticket so we can review it safely and directly. Please include:

1. Your EverWeb Project file
2. The name of the page where the code has been added
3. A brief description of the behavior you want to achieve

Please do not post code or project details publicly in the forum. A ticket is the appropriate place to share that information, and we will be able to clarify what is and is not possible with EverWeb's once we can review the setup.

Best regards,
M.S.
