Question about how EW handles photo files

When I'm adding photos to my website, I put them into folders under "Assets". Then I drag them into the albums on each page. I've noticed that when the site is published, all of the photos are stored twice -- once in "ewExternalFiles" and again in "images". Why is this? Photos take up a lot of space on the server, and this doubles it. Am I doing the photos incorrectly? |

Hi Ray, Thank you for your post. To investigate this further, could you please open a support ticket (Client Area > Open Ticket) and send us a link to your Project file? (Projects Window > three dots > Send Project File To Support ). If by "albums" you are referring to Image Gallery or similar widgets, please note that EverWeb generates additional image thumbnails that are required for the widgets to display and function properly. However, we can only be certain once we review your Project file. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks. Yes, I meant the image galleries. I know that one set of images is used as thumbnails, but I don't understand why EW isn't reducing the image when it creates the thumbnail. I'm currently uploading the project file but it will take some time since it is over 7GB even in compressed form. |
