Viewing Previous and Next text links

Previous and Next text links

I rarely use responsive websites for a few reasons; when I've tried, they don't always look as good as I want on small screens. My goal for 2024 is to figure out responsive sites as I think they will save me a lot of work.

But I still have a bunch of sites that were made with desktop and mobile versions, and no one will pay me at this stage of the game to redo them, so unless they do, they will remain as sites with 2 versions.

One is for an artist who is selling excess works on paper that she has lying around. She wanted them on a grid so you see the art on one page but no information about each piece there. There are 4 images in each row and about 10 rows (so about 40 different art pieces). Then you click on an individual piece you like, and it takes you to its own page that tells you the name, price, what sort of materials were used, the size, and it has a purchase text link (which takes you to PayPal).

When you click on an individual piece and go to its info page, there are previous and next buttons that will allow you to scroll through all the pieces without having to go back to the grid page.

When we made this site, there was no gallery I could use that included a space for all the artwork information and a PayPal purchase link. Is that still the case? Are there any gallery/grid widgets that would allow me to have this information and a PayPal link on each piece?

If not, the way I've been doing this is each time she sells a piece, we mark it as sold and leave it there. That way we don't have to redo all those previous and next pages.

Well, for 2024, she wants to remove all the solds. They are all in different positions all over the grid, so it seems like I will have to redo every single link for the previous and next buttons for the remaining unsold pieces of art.

But I thought I read in this support forum (some time ago, and I can't find it) that if the pages were all one after the other, there was a way to link up those previous and next buttons without physically having to highlight the word "previous" and click the link button in Inspector and then pick "one of my pages" and then choose the correct page. Is there a way to make this process easier, or am I dreaming that I read this?

Thanks for any ideas to streamline this process. Sorry this was so long!

Hi Susan,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

For showcasing your artwork and adding links, you can use the Image Gallery widget. While the widget itself doesn't integrate with PayPal, you can link each image to a specific URL by navigating to Inspector > Widget Settings > Mouse Click Action: "Go to link."

To provide more details and a PayPal button for each artwork, I recommend creating separate pages for each piece. However, if you prefer not to have individual pages, you can obtain a payment link from your PayPal account and link it directly to the respective image.

With the Image Gallery widget, you can easily remove sold items from the grid. Additionally, the widget includes pagination.

Let us know if you have further questions.

I just tried this on a test website, and I don't think it will work for us. We have too much text to fit under the images, and once the images are linked as described by support above, they don't do a "slideshow" anymore; you only get the grid. I need people to be able to do a rotation to go from one art piece to the next. Once they are linked, you can't do that because when you click on the image, it takes you to Paypal (which is where they are linked to). So this won't work for us.

Any other ideas??

Have you looked into www.everwebwidgets.com? Roddy has hundreds of widgets, and there are numerous gallery widgets that are responsive with all sorts of features. If you look at his newest "Themes" section, there are great demo pages showcasing each widget.
