Laptop Crashed/Hard Drive OK/ But Cannot Find My Everweb Projects

User: Edward K. one year ago
Good day, friends,
I migrated from Sandvox recently and got my new website 98% finished. MacBook (2012) dropped last week and won't start up. So I removed MacBook hard drive, put it on a mobile shell, and tried to find my website files using my wife's (MacBook slim (2016).

Problem:
I opened Everweb from my attached hard drive (from the old MacBook) but cannot find my project. I did find the Everweb application though. My projects was saved, using "save" many times. I'm new to Everweb. I then looked at similar issues on Everweb forum (going back to 2017). So I did a search, using Finder/Go/Go to Folder, and there is nothing to see. The Project file, which not save as a specific file, does not appear.

Can anyone offer any feedback, questions, or insights to help me move this along toward a solution. It seems that my project file has disappeared.

Many thanks,
earon

Hi Edward,

Sorry to hear that.

Did you use EverWeb's backup feature?
It is enabled by default in EverWeb's Preferences.

1. Open the Preferences in EverWeb and go to the Backup tab.
2. Then click the 'Show on Disk' button to reveal your backup folder.

3. Once in this folder you will see a list of project files.
If you have multiple project file backups we recommend you sort the list by Last Modified and copy the folder to your Documents directory.
Then you can open each folder and double-click the .ewbackup file until you find your project file.

If you specified another folder in the preferences, then you should look in there instead.

You can also try using Spotlight to search for ".everweb" and ".ewbackup" to find files with these extensions, as those would be EverWeb project files.

If you used Time Machine to back up your files, one last location to check is for the project in earlier versions of your backups.
Look for EverWeb project files under your *User* Library folder (not your System Library Folder);

~/Library/Application Support/EverWeb/

If you did not back up your project file, unfortunately you will have to rebuild it, since you cannot import a published website from online back to EverWeb.

If any questions arise, please open a ticket with us.
