Google error?

User: Susan S. one year ago
I have a website that has been online for a few years. We made some changes to it the other day, it's a seasonal business, so we changed the 2022 year to 2023. Deleted a few things like gift cards, but nothing major. We didn't delete or add any pages.

I pay for the Everweb SEO add-on. Now after I uploaded the website, I received an email from Google saying this:

"Alternate page with proper canonical tag"

What does that mean, and how do I fix it? I read it could mean I have duplicate pages on the site. I do; the site is made the old fashion way, not responsive but with separate pages for a mobile site. Could that be the problem?

Thanks,

Susan

HI Susan,

Can you provide some more information about the issue?

What is the URL of the page it is referring to?

Is this all it says? The message doesn't make much sense to me to be honest, so if there are more details I will gladly look into it and provide a solution.

I went into the Google account via their link and it listed the mobile pages as duplicates. I went into Everweb and saw that they were checked to submit to search engines. I unchecked them and went back into Google and asked them to reverify and I so far haven't heard back. I guess that was the problem!? Thanks for your quick reply.

Susan
