New iMac - Scrolling within Everweb App at Snail's Pace

Hello, I recently got a new iMac: (24-inch, M1, 2021), Chip Apple M1, Memory 16 GB. Running macOS Monterey V 12.1. The former iMac that EW has been running on for years: (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017), Processor 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, Memory 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4. The EW app (using version 3.6.0 Build: 2596) and latest file was transferred over to the new iMac. It was not without hassle and required the main fonts I use to be brought in again and updates made throughout my site. But the biggest problem I see immediately is the scrolling within the app is excruciatingly slow. It will be extremely frustrating to deal with on a long-term basis, as some of my pages (Live Streams, etc.) require me to scroll within the app to load a new live stream widget at the bottom. By March I will have enough LSs on this year's LS page that I will be scrolling endlessly and, if I need to look back through any other past year's LSs, will also be very slow. I have set my scroll speed set very high within the iMac's preferences for the entire machine and it works perfectly in all other apps on the new iMac...except EW. I know that there is a scroll bar that appears as I am scrolling within the EW app but in using a track pad (not a mouse), I can not grab the scroll bar before it disappears. And quite frankly, that's not an acceptable solution for something that worked on my former Mac but not my current one. If you need to see the site and one of the specific pages to understand the magnitude of the issue based on the length of the page, I'm attaching last year's LS page. https://baltimorechristianfaithcenter.com/live-stream/2021.html Thank you. I look forward to your solution. Jenny |

Hi Jennifer, Thank you for your question. You can place your mouse next to the scroll bar and then scroll down and select the scroll bar before it disappears. Hope that helps. ------------------------------- EverWeb Customer Support Submit Tickets or Learn More |

FWIW, I have similar set up as Jennifer and have noticed the same slow scroll speed (compared to previous versions of EW). Support's response about mouse and scroll bar is helpful, but can anything be done about returning to original speed of scrolling in EW?

While I appreciate your suggestion, I don’t use a mouse, as stated in my original post above. And it does not work the way you suggest with a track pad. Now that I see there is an additional person noticing this issue, it sounds as though it is not just my Mac. I’m assuming there are more if not all people who are using this new updated version. Is this something that will be addressed? Is there a fix in the works? It is excruciating when using a track pad. |

I have the same issue. I just got my new M! chip mac and it is dreadfully slow. I would love to see a solution.

Hi, Sorry to hear about these issues. Do you experience this issue when scrolling the Design Canvas or is it everywhere in the app? For example, scrolling the inspector as well or the publishing settings screen? ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

To answer your specific questions, Paul, the scroll speed (in contrast to previous versions of EW) is much slower in all three areas: Design Canvas, Inspector, and Publishing Screen. I have been using EW since it took over for iWeb and this is the slowest it has ever been.

To clarify previous post, the scroll speed is slow in comparison to normal scroll speed on any webpage including visiting my website just after publishing.

And, to add to my previous two posts, this is the first time in all EW versions that I have noticed a slowdown in scroll speed. Not sure if it is EW or specific to the new macs with apple chips that the three of us seem to have in common. I appreciate how as the Chief Developer, you monitor these issues. That's quite the level of support for we end-users.

Sorry for the late reply but I just wanted to mention that EverWeb 3.6.1 fixes this issue.

Hello, this issue is not fixed in the latest version of EverWeb. Too slow for it to be functional on a 24" 2021 Mac.

Hi Rick, Can you verify from the EverWeb About window or the Projects window that you are using EverWeb 3.6.1 and not 3.6? Please try redownloading from our site: https://www.everwebapp.com/download.html ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Paul - Rounding off this thread. I installed the new Mac Studio's that arrived this week. After all the inevitable craziness and migrating everything over I have no scrolling speed problems. That is on both the Ultra and M1 Pro versions. They are also running the latest EW 3.6.1 (2598). I hope those others will able to find their problems. ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |
