Viewing Using Metrics with Vertical Lines

Using Metrics with Vertical Lines

User: Christopher 12 years ago
Has no one commented on this yet? It's a nightmare. You make a line and rotate it so it's vertical. But now the Width in Metrics is really the Height and visa versa. And the X and Y's are totally off. Drag your line in the canvas and you'll see completely different positions showing up than what appears in the Metrics box.

I really hope this is fixed in the next beta. I have thin vertical lines separating bodies of text and it's pretty challenging changing the length. I know I can drag the bottom out but I always end up moving the line which has been perfectly placed and I have no idea how to read the X ... Ys since they don't correspond with anything that makes sense. Ugh!

Wow, one year later and drawing vertical lines is still an impossible endeavour. The only way is to use a shape tool and then change the rotation to 90 degrees. But try moving that around and it keeps flipping and elongating and is totally uncontrollable.

Why use an image when you can do it easily with code…

… or a widget…

Thanks. I've actually already got it to work using code I found online. But EverWeb is supposed to be drag & drop. Why should we have to insert code for every single thing, such as a vertical line? Seriously, I'm very grateful for the app but its design limitations continue to gnaw on me.

That's the advantage of having such an easy and effective way of inserting code.

EverWeb would be improved a lot if HTML/CSS shapes were built in. I don't think that a lot of users realise how they are effecting the efficiency of their websites by adding all these shape images. It's kind of ridiculous to add two images just to create a simple line.
