Viewing Cannot Turn Off Underlining Text in RSS Widget

Cannot Turn Off Underlining Text in RSS Widget

User: John J. 2 years ago
THE ISSUE: I am trying to build a news blog site using “The News Reporter” template. There are no instructions on how to construct this kind of blog but it should function somewhat similar to a Wordpress news blog/site. (I have absolutely no interest in working with Wordpress).

I have already built a “test” site.

My theory is the best way to do this in Everweb is to create sections (News, Sports, Politics, etc) as Directories. Inside each directory is a blog that can be updated with content. This seems to work well.

WHAT I WANT TO DO: When I update a blog post, I want the “Home page” to update automatically. The solution seems to be to use RSS widget blocks on the Home page linked to a blog’s main directory folder.

An example would be”jfy.dreamhosters.com/Headlines/rss.xml” (actual test site). Again, this works in terms of linking the content and auto-updates.

THE PROBLEM: I cannot turn off underline links in the RSS widget. In Everweb’s Inspector I have toggled the links on and of to no avail. I also selected the Directory folder (example, News), the Posts page and each individual sample post I created (three), and the Archives page and turned off underlining for all of them in the Inspector, as well.

While underlining is turn off on the Post and Archive pages, the underlines are still visible in the RSS widget block on the Home page.

It doesn’t matter if the RSS widget is enabled as a hyperlink or not (tried both), the post titles are still underlined.

Currently, in the Inspector, all underlined link options are currently turned off on all pages, all posts. This issue seems to be limited to the RSS widget.

Any suggestions as to what the issue is?

Hi John,

To answer your questions;

1. You can create the blog the way you have described. There are no unique descriptions for creating blogs on different templates as it is always the same process. You can add a blog page from the 'Add Page' button.

2. You can add the RSS widget to the main page as you described and use the RSS link from your blog. Publish your blog once to find the RSS link and add that to the RSS widget. Let me know if you need more help finding it.

3. To turn off the underlining on the RSS widget you need to select the title section by double clicking any title then go to the Hyperlink tab in the Inspector and turn off the underline for the hyperlink states (meaning you can enable/disable the hyperlink for normal links, hover and visited links as you would like)
