Problem with contact form advanced

User: Anthony R. 2 years ago
I tried to use the new contact form, taking care to follow all the recommendations. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work.
When I try it on the app, I get the test email to my account fine but when the site is published, it doesn't work. A message appears: "An error occurred while sending the contact form. Check the developer console for errors ..."
I tried to modify the fields but without success. How can I fix it?

Thank you,
Anthony

I had the same problem with my third party web hosting provider in the Netherlands.
They had a problem with their spam-filter after an update. It was blocking the mails from my EW contact forms. The error "An error occurred while sending the contact form. Check the developer console for errors ..." was caused by their spam-filter.

"An error occurred while sending the contact form. Check the developer console for errors"

Almost always this issue is caused by having a very old version of PHP installed on your server. It is very important to keep your version of PHP updated on your server since older versions cause security issues.

PHP is a scripting language installed by almost every single web hosting provider.

The EverWeb Contact Form will work with PHP all the way back to version 5.6 which was discontinued in 2018. We recommend PHP 7.4 or later as older versions of PHP no longer receive security updates.

We always recommend you contact your web hosting provider and make sure that they update their version of PHP. If your web hosting provider has older versions of PHP installed, we would recommend switching to a new, modern web hosting provider as this could indicate security holes in their system.
