Testing site on variety of devices and browsers

User: Susan S. 2 years ago
I know there are some paid sites to do this but the ones I checked are thousands of dollars a year. I can't really afford that.

I also know that in Safari I can go to the Develop menu item and test what my site will look like on some other devices.

I have a friend that I did this site for (we are still working on it) and she said she has had a few complaints from people using a Samsung galaxy tab A 7 that the site is a "mish-mash."

I know that isn't very descriptive but that's what we have for now. Does anyone have this tablet? Or any advice on how to test on it without spending $xxxx.xx? I went to try it at Best Buy and they didn't have one!

This is the site: http://karennunley.com

Thank you,

Susan

Hi Susan,

Sorry for the problems you are experiencing.

The likely reason is that the site had some old cached style resources. The cache is cleared after about 10 minutes after uploading a website. So if they had just recently visited your site, they may have a mix up of the old cached style info and the newer html code.

The issue is usually resolved after a few minutes or reloading the site.

Of course, it would be best to get a screenshot of what you are seeing.

Since this is a caching issue, buying an Android device or trying to preview the site is not going to show the issue.

I don't think it is a caching problem. Here is why. The site is brand new. There was no older version of it and this is the first time the customer has been to it. :(

HI Susan,

It is possible that it is because;

1. You don't have an SSL certificate
2. You are using fonts that are not installed on the Android Device. You should stick to the web safe fonts and Google Fonts for best compatibility.

If you can get a screenshot of what the site looks like, that would also be helpful.
