Viewing still struggling with the Gallery

still struggling with the Gallery

User: Susan S. 2 years ago
When I click on an image in the gallery, it opens the slideshow. Great.

On the full "computer" version of the site. I can see the little square in the upper right-hand corner of the slideshow to turn it off and go back to the webpage. OR I seem to be able to click my mouse on the outside of the image and go back to the web page. Just how it should work.

However on the mobile version of the site, when you open the slideshow none of my testers can figure out how to close the slideshow, it's almost impossible to see the little square in the right corner it's so tiny and has NO contrast.

You will only see the difference if you look at the first page on your computer and the second, mobile page on a mobile phone. When I look at the mobile page on my computer (by typing in the URL) it looks great, it's only on a mobile phone that no one can find the square.

My client is very unhappy. We've tried about 5 galleries so far and she likes this one best but can't turn the slideshow off on her phone!

Is there any workaround on this, it just is impossible to see on a mobile.

This is the computer page:
http://test.starfishcreativegroup.com/paintings/watercolor.html

Here is the mobile page which has to be viewed on a phone for you to see what I mean:
http://test.starfishcreativegroup.com/mpaintings/mwatercolor.html

thanks for any help.

Hi Susan,

Looking at your website it just looks like the icons for the image gallery are missing so they are appearing as squares.

I would recommend you go to File->Publish Entire Site and then in top right corner of the slide show there should be an X icon to close the slideshow on your mobile device.

You can press the square on the top right to close the slide show now, but it only appears like this because the icon for the X isn't uploaded on the server for some reason.

I just did that and I still have the little squares. I cleared the cache on the browser and all I have are little squares on both my iMac and iPhone. I had a friend check it and she has only little squares too so if there are icons they are not loading for me. I need them too so I'll put in a ticket on this.

It is possible the icons cannot be found because the website is being published to a subdomain.

Are you publishing directly from EverWeb to your FTP server?

Did you add

test

into the sub directory field?

I am publishing directly from Everweb to the server. I did set up the hosting space with "test" in it so I know at a quick glance that it's where I upload websites before they go on the client hosting server, while we are still working on it. But it's a good question if that's the problem with the icons. I'm not sure how it would be... all the images are there.... and again I upload from Everweb to the test site. But maybe that is the problem. Good call and I won't know until we do a final upload to the right hosting spot. (which they don't have yet or I would have done the site there and had a "coming soon" home page)

Hi Susan,

Thank you for clarifying that you are publishing to a test subdirectory.

Please, create a support ticket if the issue occurs once you publish the final version of your website, and we will assist.
