Version 3.5 - all blog images failing to load

User: james 2 years ago
I updated and was forced to return to 3.4.1. All images, both intro and internal, fail to load when opening in 3.5. Handles are still there, at least on the cover image. This is on Intel iMac. Haven't had an opportunity to check this on the M1.

Copied the file to the M1 – same issue all around: Cover image fails to load and the other images, while they do show up in work screen, also fail to show up in preview area.

HI James,

Sorry for the problems you are experiencing.

I just created a new blog and added an image to a blog and set the cover image and it worked OK in EverWeb 3.5 in an intel Mac.

I wonder if there is an issue with your specific project or with the images you are selecting.

What format are the images in? What is their file name?

Can you contact support and send us your project file so we can test it?

Thanks and sorry again for these issues.

Maybe later for rile if needed. All images are jpg - blog postings go back a couple of years - all images fail to mount in preview when I go up the blog posting list. Both computers, M1 and Intel.
NEW TEST SITE
Created a new test site on the M1 - set cover image and it DID NOT show up in preview, although text and oddly even images in body.
• Cover image: Clicked on "Right Aligned image" and it appears (aligned to the left) / click back on "image at top" it disappears again. Click on left aligned, it is also missing. Also right aligned image is both at LEFT and AT TOP. None of this in older version.

This is very strange.

Is it possible to make a screen recording so I can take a look?

You can record your screen using Quicktime which is in your Applications folder. Open Quicktime and select 'New Screen Recording' from the File menu.

Once you are done, your recording will be on your desktop. You can send it to support if it is not too large, or we can send you a link to upload it to. You can also send with dropbox for example.

Here's a Dropbox link to the screen movie doing this on a test new web site on the Intel iMac (13 inch M1 similar but too awkward for doing this): https://www.dropbox.com/s/fu4tfr0nzwvnba1/Screen%20Recording%202021-07-14%20at%2010.43.09%20J%20Craig%20AM.mov.zip?dl=0

Note - the handles do appear when selecting on top. / Right alignment is aligned left / left alignment is missing also
The whole thing is a little less consistent on the M1

Hmm. I tested first dropbox link and it didn't work - loaded again, this link.

Any fix-it for the blog issue shown in the above link in sight? I sure would like to move on to the new version……
On either machine, even a whole new site from scratch, this is a problem – in fact, if you load a new Blog and click on posting, the sample image flashes on and back off.
Is there a shortage of people beta testing for blog issues? My M1 laptop along with using one of my smaller sites as test is probably where I ought to go in the future.

Hi James,

We have note yet figured out the issue.

It is strange because it only happens on macOS 10.16 if you don't set a maximum width for the image in the inspector but we are still working on the issue and hope to figure it out for EverWeb 3.5.1.

I'm on MaxOS 11.5 on both machines, and it does it on both M1 and Intel _ where I made the video. Opening large site with blog and clicking the postings, all images disappear from preview, even in the body so not simply the cover image – so I'm guessing it's not the cover image settings doing it. Presence of "handles" seems to hint that links are there while actual display of image ability missing.

I'm assuming that you know by now that this problem remains with the blog pages in 3.5. No images display properly in the preview, However I've discovered that they DO display properly when "Previewed" in Safari. This is with Image on Top and no maximum width of height (since I go back and forth between verticals and horizontals this would be awkward to use). The in-app preview is useless when working on blog pages in 3.5.

Hi James,

The latest beta of EverWeb 3.5.1 should fix the blog image issues for you

NOT - but possibly I'm not communicating clearly:
1- This issue is NOT in osx-10.16 I am running 11.5.2 on both an iMac (intel) with 32 ram and a new M1 MacBook Air. The issue is exactly the same on both
2- The issue is the same whether a NEW test site or my very large full site - again on both machines.
3- The issue SEEMS to be only a Blog-Preview issue – when previewing in Safari all is well, Indicating to me that there is some kind of interference - but I have quit all else running and still the problem so assume it is not interference.
4- With your 3.5.1 beta update the issue simply expresses slightly different:

•• When setting Post Cover Image Options to Image on top, with max measurements on 0 – no image on top, no showing other images
Clicking on Left Alignment gets the same. Clicking on Right Alignment sometimes renders the Cover image as Image on Top, and only once brought in other images, but not bringing in other images. Mess around clicking back and forth and occasionally Image on Top comes in, but disappears when clicking on an older posting.
•• When setting a Max Image width, the Cover Image does come in, BUT no other content images. If you add in an alignment to this, only occasionally the other images will show up.
5- I sent a video. Why this keeps getting attributed to a 10.16 system issue I do not know. The fact that it is the same on the new M1 laptop, plus on an old site being used and setting up a new test site, and now on both 11.5.1 and 11.5.2 says something squirrelly in the Blog Preview setup. I have not switched full time yet because even tho my tests show everything showing up fine in Safari, I do to trust it yet, and dislike the idea of working without a preview right there while I work.

This has been months and I still have to usr version 3.4.1 because version 3.5.1 still screws up image appearance in the Blog Preview Panel. This happens on my Intel Mac using Big Sur - and have verified that it is the same on my M1 running Monterey. A couple of months ago I sent in a video of this happening in a break new small site file set up for that purpose. No one addressed that.
•• Note – if I click on the Preview panel to bring up handles, and drag one to the side, sometimes all the images magically appear for a short while.
•• Please advise me as to whether this is being worked on, or if you have not been able to verify the problem (unimaginable), or what the heck is or is not happening.
•• Come on now…

Hi James,

I am sorry to hear you are still having this issue. I missed your last reply here.

I thought it was fixed in 3.5.1. I will take a look again at your issue and get a fix ASAP.
