EverWeb 3.5 Released: M1 Mac Support, Website Search + More

User: Paul-RAGESW 2 years ago
We're excited to announce EverWeb 3.5 is here!

The major new features are native support for ARM based Macs and full website search.

You will find two new widgets to easily add search to your website. Simply drag the search bar widget to your EverWeb website and you're all set. EverWeb takes care of the rest, adding complete search functionality to your website.

We've redesign the EverWeb icon so it fit rights in with all your other Apps on the latest versions of Mac OS.

You can download the latest version or read our EverWeb 3.5 release blog post.

Unfortunately you still can't select an asset like a jpeg then hit space bar to quick look at it and arrow down or up to see the next one. You have to close the quick view select the next asset hit the space bar over and over again.. I realize that you can select multiple files hit the quicklook and scroll through them but the other way would be nice also! : )

Thx

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately we were too far into the development cycle of EverWeb to add this feature to version 3.5 but we are evaluating it for the next release.

Hello Steve, I do agree with you, this should work, because it did work (in the past). And Paul is writing: "Unfortunately we were too far into the development cycle of EverWeb to add this feature to version 3.5 but we are evaluating it for the next release. " As if you're requesting a new 'Preview' feature. But prior to EW 3.4 the 'Preview' process of assets was working exactly as you describe it Steve. I used to Preview my jpeg's all of the time like this - and now this past Preview feature stopped working in EW 3.5. To me it looks like a bug...?
Or it could be that such a 'Preview' process worked in the past, before the assets got a nested folder upgrade?

Hi Cornelis,

It may be a bug yes. I am not sure. We got notified about it too late in the development cycle but we are working on a solution.

Hello Paul, I plowed through my TimeMachine volumes, which go back as far as 2016. I restored many EW versions to check for this 'spacebar - arrow keys preview' option of de assets that Steve was talking about.
Every EW version prior to v3.0, which was around q2 in 2019, had this preview option working. My last working version with this preview option was v2.9.1 build 2184. In v3.0 and beyond it ceased to exist.
Anyhow this preview option has not been there anymore FOR OVER 2 YEARS and I didn't, and no one else too, reported the preview omission at that time. I'll guess it wasn't important enough - for all of us... Clearly we could do without it.

I've Never seen this work with any version of EverWeb and I've been using it since the Betas.. Easyweb. I also just tried 2.9.1 (2184) which doesn't work either...

Ohhh, the clip is not attached. It's 4.2 MB - is that to much? Or doesn't it do .mov as an attachment?
User: Cornelis V. 2 years ago
One more attempt with a mp4 which is 860 KB. If it's not attaching then I'll give up...

Cool...
Doesn't work for me...
Just tried it again today.. All I get is the error chime when I hit the up/down key.
Maybe they need a bigger pool of testers next time?

Steve, if you have EW 2.9.1 than it should work anyhow. I guess that you skipped one essential step #2 from below!

#1 Click on the asset in the list to make it active and hit the 'Space Bar' to see the 'Preview' window.
This 'Preview' window is actually a 'Finder' window which makes Everweb inactive at the moment. The asset is not highlighted anymore but grey. If you now start previewing with the 'Arrow' keys nothing will happen because there is no 'Finder folder' with files to view. That's why you'll hear the error chime.

#2 Click on the same asset again to activate it.
You have made EW and the same asset active again and the 'Finder' is pushing the 'Preview' window as the topmost window.

Pay close attention to my video where you can see that I did the same thing.

#3 Only now you can start using the 'Arrow' keys to preview your assets.

Sadly this process does't work anymore in EW 3 or higher. For reasons that only the man in charge knows about...

Ok... Tried that and it does work with 2.9.1... Thx
Not really the way it should work. Hopefully EW can make it work more (normally) in future releases.
