No-Index without password protecting page?

User: Daniela F. 3 years ago
I'd like to make a single page on my site secret, and unable to be found through keyword searches, but I don't want to password protect the page. I want to simply include that page's url in an email to my clients, where all they have to do is just click and be there, without the extra steps of putting in a password they have to go back to the email to find. Someone told me about making it a "no-index" page so Google won't show it. Is this possible without the password protection feature in that page's Info section?

Hi Daniela,

Thank you for reaching us.

Please, add this code to head code of your website in your publishing settings. (File - > Edit Publishing Settings)
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
You should be aware that some search engine web crawlers might interpret the noindex directive differently. As a result, it is possible that your page might still appear in results from other search engines.

It doesn't matter whether you will be using password protection for that page or not. Using this code, users won't be able to find your page in Google.

Let me know if any questions arise.

It's not the entire site I'd like to keep secret, it's just one page in the site. The rest of the site I absolutely want found in searches! :)

P.S. The reason I'm asking has to do with what to name the file which would become that page's url. I was almost going to name it "secret URL" or "special promo page" or something like that, which could be awful for several reasons. By making it difficult to find by searching "promo" or something like that, I can name the file whatever I want.

Hi Daniela,

In this case, please add this code to the particular page under Inspector Tab - > Page Settings(1st option under Inspector) - > add the code to the head code.

Let me know if any questions arise.
