Drag a textbox into a responsive row

User: Victor E. 3 years ago
I made a bunch of textboxes before I realized I should really put them into a responsive row. Dragging them in doesn't seem to work. Or do I need some modifier key?

Hi Victor,

Thanks for your question.

You need to right-click on the text box and choose the "Embed In" option from the drop-down list.
There, you can place the box into the Responsive Row.

Cool. That works.

Eh, can I still edit those widgets after I've embedded them? I notice that a couple of buttons have the wrong color.

You should be able to edit the widgets or TextBoxes as you normally would. If it is a widget you are trying to edit, just click it and then go to the Inspector->Widget Settings. You should have all the settings there.

"just click it" Ok, I "just" click it, and the Inspector says that I clicked on "Responsive Row", not Text Thingumy. Is that a bug in my version 3.3.1?

Hi Victor,

Are you using the Fixed Centered Layout or the Responsive Layout?

Oh, I found it: when elements are in a Responsive Row you can *not* directly click them, but if you control click them, you can select the Layer that they are in.

Hi Victor,

Normally you can just click elements in the Responsive Row. But I did discover a rare issue that when you use a responsive row on a non-responsive page, you may not be able to just click it

I am trying to confirm if this is the same issue you are experiencing. If you are experiencing it on a responsive page that would be helpful to know so we can track down the issue.

In theory, that's true. However, as a new user, I find EW frustrating: I OFTEN cannot grab an item in a responsive row. "Usually" it lets me, but sometimes not.

I even had a situation yesterday where I had two items in a RR. One I could grab easily. THe other I could not. I tried right-clicking to select the item. Didn't show up. The other item did, but not that one. I finally had to delete the RR and start over. Second time it worked fine. Just sayin'
