Viewing Image Gallery Stopped Displaying Images

Image Gallery Stopped Displaying Images

User: Mike G. 3 years ago
I setup a web page with a Responsive Image Gallery Widget added in a Responsive Row. It initially displayed the images I added to assets. I've added more images which now total 55 pictures, but now it doesn't display the images anymore. It just shows Generating Preview in the Widget body. The images are all there when I publish the site though.

Have I exceeded some limit on images?

Hi Mike,

It seems so. The number of images might have taken too much RAM for them to be previewed in the application.
Consider waiting some time, as they may get loaded.

If not, you might want to split the number of images between two Responsive Rows, if that makes any sense to you, of course.

If you need us to take a deeper look into this one, please open a Ticket with our support team.

Hi,

I have waited longer than an hour for the images to appear so doesn't seem to be a RAM limitation. I optimized all images when they were added to Assets.

Also, you don't need to add the Responsive Image Gallery to the Responsive Row. Responsive Rows are for non-responsive widgets OR if you want objects to auto align vertically or horizontally depending on the browser width.

The Responsive Image Gallery does not need to be placed in the Responsive Row.

Paul,

Thanks for your response. It got me messing around a bit more. I found out that if I widened the Image Gallery, the images displayed ok almost immediately. I suspect that I had the width of the Image Gallery widget too narrow (under 300 pixels) for some of the images I had added. I would suggest that should be handled a bit more elegantly by EverWeb though. A forever hang waiting for it to Generate a Preview is not good.

I poked around a bit more, but left the Image Gallery inside the Responsive Row. I selected the Image Gallery widget on my page and then selected the Size Metric menu. I noticed it did not have the Full width selected so I clicked that and the Image Gallery widened to show the entire window width. It turns out that also allows the Image Gallery to be re-sized when it is viewed on an iPhone very nicely, showing only one column of the Gallery.

Good results after all that, but I do think it is worth a bug fix as noted above.
