Viewing Google Fonts

Google Fonts

User: Susan S. 3 years ago
I thought that I could use Google Fonts with Everweb. That if I did it would upload whatever is needed so I could see the font I choose. Does this only work in Chrome?

I am testing a site I'm working on and I use a Google Font called Sen. On my Everweb before I upload it, it looks as it supposed to. On Chrome I'm seeing the Sen font.

When I look at the site in Safari it's not even close. (see screenshots below). Is there some way I can get the proper font in Safari or other browsers? What is the point of having a fancy font if it only works in one browser?

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Susan!

Different browsers deal with fonts in different ways. There are also other factors that come in to play too.

We'd appreciate if you could raise a support ticket as well, so that we could investigate it more deeply.

I did put in a support ticket but it seems to me (I'm vague on this) that Google fonts and Everweb used to work in Safari. I went and checked all my websites and NONE of the fonts (all Google fonts) are working in Safari now. Some of these sites look awful with the substitution font that Safari picked. They are even close and not remotely sized right.

I'm just curious if everyone has this problem with fonts and Safari?

Hi Susan,
I have experienced the same issues and it is really annoying. I have chosen the font Oswald from Google fonts and have used it for the whole site. When examining online my iMac Safari chooses Helvetica and when checking the site with my iPhone Safari it chooses Times Roman. I have no idea how to make this work so that my customer's experience is the same as how it was intended to look like.
If someone smart could explain and give a piece of advice, I'd appreciate it.

Hi Susan-

I am experiencing the same thing. Using a font that seems to work in Chrome and Firefox, but not Safari (Mac and iPhone). I will also open a ticket so that (hopefully) support will prioritize the issue....
