Make a membership only page

User: Zac M. one year ago
Hi, I would like to create a site where members login and access pages usually not available for nonmembers.

How can I do this in EverWeb?

Hi Zac,

You can limit access to the pages with the help of password protection. Here's a detailed video tutorial:
https://www.everwebapp.com/support/video-tutorials/password-protection.html

In this case, there will be no need for registration - users just need to enter the password, and nonmembers will not have it and thus will not have access to the pages.

I was also wondering if anyone knows about live streaming. I want to livestream from my site but only be able to access by paying members. I know everweb doesn't do video streaming, so i'd have to use 3rd party host like vimeo. If anyone else has other suggestions, please let me know.

Hi Zac,

Thank you for posting. Vimeo can be a good option. Alternatively, you can integrate any service that provides embed code for Live Streaming into EverWeb. Services like Facebook Live can be added to EverWeb HTML Snippet widget through embed code (generated by a service provider). You just paste the code to the widget and hit “Apply” to make it work.

Regarding the password-protected pages: you can set them up by native, easy EverWeb functions as long as you host the webpage with us. You can learn more about password protection here:

Kind Regards,
Ted

Those who do not host with EverWeb can use the Password Protect widget in the Elements 2 pack.

It is for fixed width page designs but I can make responsive version if anyone needs it as a stop gap until EverWeb releases a version with a sign up and sign in function.

Honestly, in this day and age of cyber-insecurity and people taking much of their work online, I am shocked that Everweb thinks this is not something their customers need.

Paul..
Is there ever going to be a way to do it while not hosted by you?
Or is it a server function so you'd have to check with your host to see how to do it if not using Everweb hosting....

You can ask your web hosting provider to set this up on their end for you. You just can't do it WITHIN EverWeb if you don't host with us.

We do have a more robust password protection plan coming out soon that will work with any web host.
