Newbie - Picture distorted in preview

User: Larry B. 3 years ago
Hi All:
New user here creating a new website. On my home page I placed a picture of me and when I look at it in preview (Safari and Firefox) it is distorted. Sort of stretched horizontally. I have another picture in a slide show and they are fine. Any ideas?

I decided on Everweb because it was the best WYSIWYG. I found Wordpress made no sense to me. I used to use Networks Fusion years ago.
Thanks.

HI Larry!

A coupe of things to look at... first, select the image so that you see the grab handles around it. I assume this looks ok.

Next go to the Metrics Inspector. (third button from the left when the Inspector tab is selected). You may want to check the 'Constrain Proportions' field. When On it will lock the height/width so that when you resize, the proportions always remain the same.

Next go to the Shape Options. (Click on Inspector tab then use the second button from the left). You should see a section called Fill. The first dropdown menu here should say image fill. Now check under this to see how the image is scaled. You may need to try different options then preview again.

If this problem only appears for this one image (and not others) it's possible the image file is damaged. Try another image and see if that makes a difference.

You could also try previewing using different browsers e.g. safari, chrome, firefox etc. Does that make a difference? Maybe it's a browser specific problem?

If none of this helps. you may want to chat with EverWeb support so they can dig in to what's going on...

Best

Thank Simon:
I tried everything you mentioned without success. I added in Google Chrome and it shows the picture just fine. I did just activate the preview server but that did not seem to make a difference. Here are some pictures.

No problem Larry. OK if it works in Chrome but not in other browsers then there could be a compatibility issue somewhere. I would suggest logging a ticket with support on this. They may also want a copy of your website project to see what's going on. If that is required they will give you instructions on how to send a copy of the project in to them!

Good luck!
