Viewing PhotoKit

PhotoKit

Now that quite a few EverWeb users have created responsive websites, some are realising that most of the available methods for inserting images , slideshows and galleries are pretty much useless for this application.
It doesn't make any sense to insert an image that's big enough for a desktop browser and expect mobile phone users to download it.
Most images need to be inserted in at least two sizes and, if there are more than a few on a a page, to be lazy loaded.

The PhotoKit widgets have been design to speed up your page download time by inserting responsive images properly and providing slideshows and slider alternatives that will allow your web pages to download at lightening speed.

The WebP format has been around for about 10 years now and is supported by all major browsers except Safari. The WebP widget allows for inserting this format with a fallback for Safari. Your WebP images will download twice as fast as your fat old JPEGS!

If you haven't already done so, check out the free widget mentioned in THIS post and give WebP a test drive.

The latest widget to be added to the PhotoKit widgets pack is an Artist Slideshow with variable height ratio for displaying images with varying size and aspect ratio.
