Switch from V3b to V2.9

User: Roddy 4 years ago
I opened a project in V3b and ran into a problem with a widget. I reverted to 2.9 to check it out and all the pages were red to indicate they needed publishing. Unwittingly I did so and couldn't figure out where the published files has gone.

Note that I keep various the versions of EverWeb and other apps associated with code editing etc in a sub folder in Applications.

I tried it all again to see what was happening. When I open the site in V3b and then revert to V2.9 the folder location in the site publishing settings page is changed to the sub folder in applications where the EverWeb app is and the site indicates that it needs publishing.

When I publish the complete site, a version of the applications sub folder ends up in the trash.

The initial problem was that trying to paste from the clipboard into a widget text box duplicated the widget instead of pasting the text. Quitting and relaunching fixed it.

Hi Roddy,

This sounds like a strange problem.

1. What version of macOS are you using?

I think you are using Catalina and publishing to a folder, correct? In Catalina the folder you publish to will have to be reselected. If you reselect the original publish location, all pages won't be re-published.

Let me know if this works for you.

"When I publish the complete site, a version of the applications sub folder ends up in the trash."

You mean the folder where you store all the versions of EverWeb was moved to the trash?

I think EverWeb reset the publishing location to the location that you have stored EverWeb. Which is a bug, I will look into this.

Thanks for letting me know.

Ok, thanks for the updated information.

Looks like once you use EverWeb 3.0 and then go back to EverWeb 2.9 or earlier it set the publish location when you are using Publish to Folder to the location of the EverWeb App.

I will look into this.

Thanks for letting me know!
