Maintainance Audio Site - several GBs

User: Tim B. 4 years ago
Dear Community,

I am developing a larger project with lots of Audio (1000 mp3s).
I got stuck with the uploading process in Everweb.

Whenever I change the Uploading area pop up (Everweb, Folder, FTP) from Everweb setting to FTP setting and switch back to Everweb setting I am urged to load up the whole content from Scratch.

I am used to exchange files on a server, regarding the change of 1 mp3-File which is some MBs. I would be running into trouble when I have to load up the entire website content of several GBs, caused by just adding little changes here and there when the project will be done.

The trick will be that the access to a .mp3-File stems from an element in the site pointing to a file-name only in the content folder on the server. When I change this pointed-to file (my mp3s) giving it the exact same name, it will still be accessed.

What is the purpose of the site - to play the MP3s, download them or both?
If you are going to allow playback, what kind of audio player are you proposing to use?
Where are you publishing to - the EverWeb server or another hosting service?

When you change the publishing destination the files may turn red in EverWeb indicating that an entire publish is necessary.

However, this may not be the case if you have already published your website to that destination. EverWeb stores a registry of published files so it will get that and then determine what needs to be published.

If you are having issues with publishing the entire site we can look into the issue more deeply.

As indicated by Roddy, there may be a better way to do what you want such as using a third party website like SoundCloud.com to store your audio files.

Dear Communiy,

thanks for your answers.

Directive #1 at the moment is to free disk space on the EW server:

I have two folders that should be uploaded.

Website 1) 800MB

Website 2) 500 MB

I cant access the Folders on Everweb manually clearing them to get free space.

After several attemps uploading Website 2 the webspace is not automatically updated. At least I need around 1.3 GB and can´t follow why 2 GBs are overrun.

I tried to name the associated projects the same, which should lead to free space of earlier version and the deletion of the Data amount. I would not see another way to decrease my Data amount from outside operating the Everweb Storage System

----------------
-------
mp3 access:
The whole thing should be run on Everwebs audio players not showing the audio content to others than the password protected website to its dedicated clients.

External Servies like Soundcloud maybe public services only and show content publically, they can also be shut down some day, so I would not rely too much on third party keeping things easy, as far as possible inside EW.

At the moment 2GB seem to be easy to handle data amount wise, but I cant update as the disk space is reached by data I cant access.

Thx
