Viewing No theme CSS loaded

No theme CSS loaded

User: Marina K. 4 years ago
Hi everyone, I am wondering whether you can help me out with an issue that arose after updating my website yesterday. I am using Everweb 2.5.1. On the website, I have a number of photos sliders that worked great until the update yesterday. Now some of the sliders do not start up anymore, but show an error message "no theme CSS loaded". I have re-uploaded the entire website to no avail. The version in my folder on my computer looks fine when I open it up in my browser. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Marina,

Have you tried going to the File menu and selecting 'Publish Entire Site'?

If you still have issues, can you post your URL here so I can take a look? However, I do believe publishing your entire site should fix the issue.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the quick response. I actually did re-upload the entire website (via FileZilla) and it hasn't solved the problem. A couple of sliders worked again, but not all of them unfortunately and I have no idea why. The website is www.ghostwatershed.ca.

Hi Marina,

Is there a reason you are using Filezilla instead of EverWeb's built in FTP Publishing?

I see when you publish that you have some optimizations from what looks like a third party product. Are you doing anything to your website after you export?

Do you have optimization software installed on your server?

Hi Paul,

Years ago I was told by my host that it is best to publish the website to folder first and then use an upload software to publish onto the server. That's why I have used FileZilla for years. Never had an issue with it.

I was not aware of any optimization software on the server. I do not have any software of that kind installed on my computer.

HI Marina,

Publishing to a folder is definitely not necessary.

They may just be following a standard support script.

We only recommend using a third party FTP uploading software if there are problems publishing with EverWeb.

You are using a very old version of EverWeb and in newer versions of EverWeb we have dramatically improved the upload process.

In any case I recommend you try publishing your website with EverWeb directly.

Furthermore I recommend making sure that your image file names do not contain any other characters besides letters, numbers and spaces. Looking at your image file names, they seem strange like they have been processed through another piece of software to optimize them.

You can change the file names in the Assets list in EverWeb but once you do, make sure you republish the entire site.

I have upgraded to Everweb 2.9 this morning. Recreated the image slider on the About us page. Re-uploaded the entire website and still no success. My web host is saying that there is not web optimization software on the server. I do edit pictures in my image editing software before putting them into the website.
